Default Good news,

I'm back into museum, viewing ships.

Complete Windows 10 reset, and now I'm having to put the ships in one at a time to find the bad egg or eggs.

It will take time, 260 odd ships to move, 10 down...

I will report all the bad eggs as I find them.

Regards,
A very happy s7rikeback.

Happy to hear that you're at least up and running again, my friend. If I could be of any help just give me a shout.

Now s7rikeback, I'm wondering exactly what you found that shut you down. Looks like the ship type research continues. Please keep in touch with Jeff-Groves to keep him up on what you're doing.

I'm sorry about my bad mood the other night.
This last job had me so stressed and everything just hit me wrong.
I'm kind of sitting back and going over stuff for a day or so.
Once I clean up the .26 files some I'll do a bit of rechecking.
Bismark should have included an empty -remove file for the Rosters folder.

It happens to all of us from time to time, Jeff. I should know. No worries.

I'll take a direct honest person before a boot-licker every time. I don't take anything you said as out of line. We were getting a bit fragmented with different people having different builds and that is a perfect road to ruin.

Jeff-Groves, the mod is 100% yours until you get the bugs out. Everyone can keep working on their projects, but keep in mind that what you do will have to be adapted to the mod Jeff returns to us, not the other way around.- Then all of our work will be much smoother. No valid ships means no valid missions are possible.

Missed your call last night as I was asleep.
I was exhausted!! And a bit burned out from the last job site.
Best night of sleep I've had in 18 days!!

Accounts have been adjusted you know where.

Oh yes, no problems there. You all will hear about it.

Fantastic! The black hole was a great idea, much needed for organization. I think we'll be underway again without undue delay. Thanks to s7rikeback and Jeff-Groves for coming on the scene just when we needed you!

Zoom in on the Nevada. There are some areas mapped to a very light color.

So here's the report on the status of the mod right now. You've seen a little less posting because we've offloaded the workload to a project forum. That way we have different threads for different phases of the work so we don't have to sift through three pages of posts in a single thread to figure out who's doing what.

We were missing things, and with a supermod you're going in several directions at once. The danger is that different team members are working on separate versions of the mod and Humpty Dumpty (that's me) can't put them together into a cohesive release.

We are going through a couple hundred ships one by one to ferret out errors. Some came from SH3 and were incorrectly adapted. Some were developed in SH4 and are missing inconsequential things like guns and turrets, missing textures and the like. We have data directories in the /Sea and /Roster folders where the spellings of the ship names are not the same. We have unused junk files in folders, where a file has been named a6mzero.dds (just an example) alongside A6MZero.dds, and only one is used. The other is a junk file not used by the game engine.

Until our navies and merchant fleets all work correctly, all our campaign work just has inexplicable glitches and crashes. SH4 and the Mission Editor don't have a sense of humor and don't think mere humans deserve to know why suddenly they crashed to desktop. Unfortunately, there are lots of reasons FOTRS crashes to desktop and FOTRS Ultimate can't be allowed to do that.

This is fussy, frustrating work. But in order for you to have fun, we're going to have to be irritated and irritable for a bit. We get PO'd so YOU DON"T HAVE TO! Thanks for putting up with us. We'll be releasing the forum link soon. We just ask that visitors participate in a constructive way that helps us build the new default mod for SH4!

And remember, this is a Subsim mod. We haven't left Subsim. As far as we're concerned our forum is part of the Subsim world. Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate could not exist without Subsim.

You are on the right track, and that is the only thing really needed

I am grateful for all team members' efforts. Having read through most of the forum over time, I can see how this work is grueling and demands much from everyone involved. I thank you all for sticking with it because it would have been easy to give up. Hang in there; I think this is going to be a ground breaking release with options most of us only dream of.
