I was in my favourite place between Okinawa and Iwo Jima, (I'm still trying to encounter any runaway DD spawns but I've had no success yet) I was in a Gar and it was early 1942, I can't remember the exact month but it was around February or March.

The reason I can't remember was because my campaign ended that day when that single DD came on the scene, over 3 miles away and it still found me even though I was 100ft below the thermal layer.

A couple of other things to mention in this new campaign that I've started.
It seems as if our naval intelligence has been infiltrated by those crafty Japanese.

Some of these bloody messages infesting my message box needs to be eradicated, I don't want to know that Commander Pugwash has sunk a bleedin crab boat, its rather annoying, just like those Fox News messages are too.

I applied the correcting patch and anchors over bases appeared.Of course I started again from port.
Something else:
I don't know if I'm wrong but I had the impression that photo recon and spy insertion missions are unrealistic and without any logic so they would be removed from the mod but I see they're included again.Is this intended?

Yeppers......hokey photo recon missions got to go. That got sidelined when Jeff-Groves proved we had much more important work to do which we haven't finished yet. But they will be dealt with in the core mod.

Agreed those messages could be cut by 2/3, or the game could be set up not to throttle down the TC when they happen. Note to the 3 Horsemen of the Apocalypse: could we put those reports back into German so at least they'd be mysterious?


The radar still drops you to 1x leaving port EVEN WHEN THE RADAR IS OFF! That's annoying, a stock defect but we need to look at it and find out why the radar still stops the boat (okay it stops time but ....) when we're not feeding it any electrons.

To everyone finding these charming bugs we're issuing half off coupons for the next beta version.

Should appear a window: drop the boat. I have a question for devs: since older version of tmo worked with it, it s possible use spyron mod with fotrs?

No, we have too many more ships. The developer of Spyron Mod has forbidden us to use any of his work with FOTRS Ultimate.

Hi there. If it weren't for propbeanie, nobody would be playing FOTRS Ultimate right now because I would have left all of you homeless! Thank you J0313 for your Brisbane report. I redownloaded the mod from the Subsim download site and shazaam! No bases.

The new file's name will be 105_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v0.40_PublicBeta_E N and it will replace the former version which has temporarily been removed.

Those of you using the old version with propbeanie's patch can continue running that way. The new upload is simply the old version including the patch.

I physically deleted the no bases model and replaced it with the bases model that I was currently running. Something obviously went wrong with the process. Please wait until I have uploaded, downloaded and verified before downloading the mod again.

I need a drink.

Just a quick update on the campaign files for Japanese Task Forces. I've found that its just a matter of changing the unit types it seems. I've got '43a Jap Task Force error free in the ME now. I will complete the others I've mentioned by tomorrow.

Okay. I deleted the underlying file in the download area of Subsim. I made a new file beginning with 105 instead of 100 and verified it worked properly, zipped it and uploaded to the Subsim download area. Then I deleted my local mod in the game, redownloaded from Subsim to confirm that it worked right. It did.

Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate v0.40 PublicBeta is now open for business!

Again, if you are playing with the old version plus propbeanie's patch you don't need to do anything.

If you have no bases you can download the new version or install propbeanie's patch and you'll not be homeless any longer!

Hmmmmmm. Seems like an echo from that Florida Sailor guy saying stuff wasn't right in Peoria. Rick has mentioned splitting up the work on these. Why don't you three get together with this and Florida Sailor's list to see what you can do. I'd like the Aleutians campaign debugged and together those would make up v0.45--Campaign Collusion.

After campaigns are taken care of looks like we need to look at the submarine handling (I doubt we need to mess with it. I want to compare acceleration times, turning speeds, dive speeds, etc with TMO 2.5)

Then fine-tuning enemy AI is in order to beef up the thermal layer and tone down the listening capability of the DDs. Missing textures need fixing. And the excess messages and possibly the radar working with no electrons.

But lets do nothing but campaign scrubbing for the next version!

Okay, I checked out the sounds. They all work, hydrophones, including background noise and own propellers, periscope up and down sounds. Battlestation sounds and secure from battlestations sounds all work as advertised.

Are you working with the 4 GB patch applied to SH4.exe? Do you have 64-bit Windows? Is your desktop shortcut pointing to SH4.exe, NOT gu.exe? Failure to have any of the three can cause you to have problems running anything as big as FOTRS Ultimate. We're pushing the envelope here.

To ArditoCorsaro and anyone else interested, I got three Patrol Attu Missions in a row, and now I've gotten two differnt Patrol Kiska, so there is some variety. Not a lot, but some. I'm trying to get one of either the photo recon or insertion missions, to see how tough they're going to be. I'm pretty sure the ones for Attu aren't going to be easy, but the Adak ones should be OK, if they play...
