the sub engines mod is the six sound files added to RC1 to create RC2.
what is "the dark side of the war"?
Of primary importance is "the dark side of the war" is "The Axis Powers", aka: Nazi... Second of all, did you happen to "shell-out" to Windows, even while booting, paused, or on a 2D screen? That is about the only way I can get graphic anomalies... thanks. Oh! what are your graphic settings in the game, and does your screen resolution match the "native" ("recommended") resolution? Do you see the sun, when it's close to the horizon "shine through" objects, like ships and the sea?

no, no shelling out. learned my lesson a loooong time ago. no shelling.
game graphic settings match monitor resolution: 1920 x 1080 (i think). 60 hz.
regarding the sun, i do not spend much time gazing at the sun. that is what the guys who dodged military service did.

change of subject: is there a way to disable the automatic (?) screen scrolling that occurs when your mouse moves to the edge of the screen? mostly happens to the sides. i do not have high hopes because that feature is probably controlled at a different layer than the game options. i have checked the Win7 mouse options and there is no option for that. it is more than a little annoying and i thought i would ask.

you have been terribly lucky, my friend.
if i get caught by an enemy with a cannon (something more than an AA weapon) i am a goner. 100 hull damage...multiple (if not all) equipment damage...widespread crew injuries. say hello to davy jones.

Yes, the scrolling can be controlled... but where was that mod?... it did cause other issues though, and I do not recall what they were... or who did it...

Double-check your video settings if you would KaleunMarco. Either like
[Current]
DepthBufferEffects=1
Filters=1
Glare=1
UnderwaterDispMap=1
LightShafts=1
3DShipWakes=1
DetailedWaveRipples=1
UnitNormalMaps=1
ShipCausticsEffects=1
Ship3DDamage=2
CharacterDetail=1
ParticlesDetail=10
TerrainObjectsDensity=10
TerrainObjectsLODSize=10
GammaCorrection=50
VolumetricFog=1
or:

or however yours are set... and make cerain-fershure that the monitor, Windows, and the game, match resolution, like mine is 1280x1024. Not to be questioning your previous answers, but just to be certain. Thanks

yeah, all of my check boxes are set with the exception of Windowed Mode and Volumetric Fog which are not set.
and yes, both the game graphic and the native monitor graphic are set to 16:9.

Exactly. It will make things "sea-through" ("Transparent" - sorry for the little play on words there... ) But yes Bleiente, in most cases, it causes more issues than it is worth. Thanks.

Man, yer fast mister!... - Good. do not check volumetric fog. You passed the test. The resolution though, not the aspect ratio, is what I'm talking about. I've got a 5:4 monitor that does 1280x1024 (60Hz??), so Windows and the game are set to that. There are other 5:4 resolutions I could use, but they cause issues. If it is possible to match resolution, do that.

Has it happened since ?
If so, have you deleted your Documents/SH4 folder and tried again ?
it has not happened again.
however, in the interim between postings, i completed enough patrols to get an upgrade in boats. the issue-as-reported happened with a porpoise and i am driving a gato presently. i have a feeling that the multiple-umarks is not a boat issue but i have no evidence to support that.

however i will monitor mr. umark as best i can as we move forward through the career.

The AI has been tweaked one way or the other with each release, as we feel our way through the darkness blindly (somewhat). You can do all sorts of testing, but it's not until a group of users actually give the mod a whirl that it's really known what certain aspects of the game are like. We have not released a mod for the user to change it yet, because we don't have it settled yet. Once that happens, a mod for lowering or raising the AI can happen. There are several "base" AI cfg files for ships, planes, and crews, and for the crew ratings on ships & planes, in several places of the game. All influence the total picture.
So if a player chooses easy or hard or hard over easy there is no change in the AI ?? Easy and Hard are player side settings? I honestly can't remember. Why is the rum always gone??

Somebody let Aktunbby onboard...

but seriously, yes, the Easy, Normal and Hard are just the gameplay settings for unlimited fuel, manual targeting, dud torpedoes, etc., and have nothing to do with the AI. Now, if a person could mod the AI settings into an in-game menu somehow, that would be wonderful... In the meantime, we'll have to wait for a full-release version, and then try for add-in mods to alter the AI.

Default Torpguns

Noticed that the Naka doesn't have any torpguns listed in it's eqp file. I stumbled across that while I was busy commenting out every torpgun assigned to a ship.
