Default Mods for a newbie

Hello.

Does GFO work with TMO?

Also how hard is TMO? I usualy play at low difficulty settings, with manual TDC turned off and with easy contact displays, can i play like this in TMO ?

start with GFO and learn the game first, then and ONLY then should you try a mod to increase the difficulty of the game

GFO is not compatible with TMO.

I recommend you an installation with GFO and play the game. TMO is very difficult for a newbie-both gameplay and modding. GFO is great mod and not so difficult.

Best regards.

GFO comes with a very good text document that will show you what other mods are compatible with it.
I also have some useful information in my SH4 tutorial for game upgrades.

I realy like the idea of 'natural sinking mechanics' mod. Does this mod work with gfo ?

There are files for every ship involved, plus the zones file, and then various weapons files. You can't just swap out a couple files.

The bottom line is: if you like RFB use RFB, if you don't, you don't.

You can use Longer Sinking Times for TMO in GFO without problems. It changes the zones.cfg for longer sinking times in ships. Very realistic.

Been playing some with the mod you recommended Fitzcarraldo and it is what i wanted.

Done some test vs vanilla and it is as i expected. I torped a merchant and at vanilla he half sunk but was still alive becase the hitpoints did not allow him to die, with this mod the same merchant after one torpedo sunk after gaining water.
This is exactly what i wanted.

Good news! Not perfect but the best available to my knowledge and experience.

Hi there. I'm still relative new to submarine simulations as well and tried TMO and was very frustrated by the ability of enemy destroyers to find and depth charge me with deadly efficiency. Even when I was really deep. Now I've installed the training wheel version which is still far more difficult than the vanilla game, but not as deadly as normal TMO. I find it very enjoyable, the right mixture for me.
