radar U-Play & SH5 problem

Hi Kaleuns

Is anyone having a problem getting SH5 to work since the latest U-Play update? The problem I am getting is this;

Installed U-Play, downloaded and installed SH5;
Verified installed files;
Hit the play tab;
Intro rolls in windowed mode, intro ends, game doesn't run. Drop back to U-Play and play tab. Hit play tab again and the whole thing repeats add infinitum.

Uninstall the whole shebang, reinstall this time from disk, U-Play has to be downloaded (obviously) same thing as previous.

This is stock SH5 attempting to run on win7 64 bit. Game and U-Play installed outside C: and outside program files on a seperate drive. Also tried on c: and within program files, just for the hell of it. No dice either way

All drivers latest. The thing is, this used to run fine before the bloody update! Is there anyway to play this without Ubicraps useless U-Play software ? If not is there a solution other than waiting for Ubi to address yet another embarrasing Ubi balls up! I swear I will never buy another Ubi game, hmmm actually I said that just before buying The Division

Any and all help appreciated, FWIW skippers on Subsim.Com are having the same problem.

Best regards.

Hi Fubar2Niner, I had the same trouble as did Martin from the facebook Subsim forum. I gave up and uninstalled SH5. I might reinstall if Ubisoft comes out with a patch that allows you to play offline without requiring a connection to Uplay.

Icon13 UPDATE

@Peter

Followed your instructions, unfortunately when U-Play udates itself, it updates to the bloody useless version Consequently things are the same as my initial post. On a side note when the intro cut scene plays there is no sound, and you cannot exit, unless you use Task manager and run through the services list. Windows did pop an nividia driver error on first start.

I'm starting to wonder if this garbage has to use old drivers

BTW I am not using a Steam version, this is a Ubisoft DVD version. Don't know if that helps ??

On the verge of turning the disk into a coaster

Did I say how much I hate Ubi ??

Best regards.

I started a total reinstall and it worked on version 1.2. I am now in the process of installing TWoS, will update on the results.

This could be very useful tip to remember...

Can you summarize once again symptoms you had so I can enlist them in TWoS "solving issues" documentation...

No problem Kaleun

On starting U-Play and selecting SH5 and play. The intro would start in windowed mode, in top left quarter of screen. No sound. There was no way to escape the intro. When intro finished game would crash back to U-Play. If you hit play again the whole thing would rinse and repeat. Hitting task manager and killing the SH5.exe *32 under the Processes tab is the only way to escape.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Mine was the same except it was full screen and would just crash back to uplay after the intro movie. I did a full SH5 and Uplay uninstall, registry clean, and reinstall, and all is working now, TWoS 1.06.09 installed.

Hi F2N
Your original game launcher defaults automatically to the Program File (x86) directory on your C: drive.
This should be uninstalled correctly and a registry cleaner used.
The new one I gave you can be installed anywhere, on any drive.
Just remember to run the 32 bit game launcher.exe application as an administrator.

Yep did all that Peter, but still no dice. However disabling

"Display Scaling On High DPI Settings"

Under the SH5.exe compatibility settings, did the trick. I did take the opportunityto d/l your launcher, just to get the bugger out from C:\ Program etc.

Thanks for your inputs chaps, now time to start getting those mods

Best regards.

Just going to grab the d/l now HW, will keep you posted. BTW Jim Deadman from subsim.com posted me a nice looking mod list with some screenies. If this works out, who knows, I may have two installs

All the best
