I started a career in a Balao, middle 43 and picked a 40mm in the forward position. It only gave me one slot for the gun crew. And I confirmed that there was only one crewman on the gun when I hit F12.

OK - Did myself a new career out of Pearl on a Balao. Got the SSxxx blah went to the boat screen in the office and got this:

Notice the Fore AA position, with one open slot.

Went to the "hardware" screen and bought the gun:


back to the crew screen and added two dudes from the left side

Notice that there are now two slots? They're empty when you first come back.

Out on the ocean blue:

A place for everybody, and a body in every place... 'cept the CO... "course, he's the one taking the pikchur

Be sure you've populated it yourself before you leave. If you did that, holler again...

I did it myself a few weeks ago. Couldn't figure out why no one was on that big, beautiful, blo-em-up-kwik gun that I spent all my renown points on, what with the watch crew missing seeing the planes coming inbound, nothing out of the radar dude, and that ever so helpful guy that goes "we're taking damage sir!", as everybody starts to shout, including me - at artificial intelligence... Ain't that rich?

Here is a "stupid" question...Where do I find the saved images at in the sim??? Saved a lot but I cannot find to post..

If you mean after doing <Ctrl> <F11> for screen capture, those should be in the game folder as bmp files. So it'd be like C:\Ubisoft \ Silent Hunter \ FileName.bmp - I can't remember the naming convention exactly, but they're like SH4_15_20161214_23:44.03.bmp or similar. They incorporate the date and time into their name. Same as stock.

I've been looking too, not that I know what I'm looking at... but no, I've not even gotten close to figuring it out yet...

I guess the two guys on 2nd shift are just that good...

I confirm that I've a similar problem with missing deck gun slot.I've an aft gun (default position) on a Porpoise class and when I "upgrade" to bow placed gun the whole deck gun slot is disappeared.
I've experienced similar issues in RFB.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Moonlight, your image shows you're in a Balao.....that's important to know.

Take the FOTRSU v0.40 Beta mod out of "Activation" within JSGME, using the path......Data/Submarine/NSS_Balao/open the NSS_Balao.upc file with Notepad. Drilling down to the CrewWatch area of the file, you'll find something like this:




In the 2nd Watch grouping, notice the problem with the "CrewMemberSlot_AttackWC2" parameter. The parameter is missing which "Watch" designation it belongs to.

It should read like this:




One little typing error is all it takes!!

After correcting the error, make sure you "Save" your file by using the Notepad "File" menu heading.

Start a new Campaign, or at least be in Port when you make the .upc file change. You should have the third slot of the 2nd Watch Crew available now.

I've just finished my first patrol with my new skipper (Commander Crushed Nuts) and we've come back empty handed again, this happens nearly every time on this 1st mission.
We've travelled the entire length of the enemy mainland and the only thing we've seen are 2 fishing boats and a crab boat, where does every one go on their first mission because I very rarely see anything worth spitting at never mind firing a torpedo at.
