Try going into the install folder and go Data/Movies/Intro. Delete the opening movies that are in. That has helped others get the game going. One other thought, where do you have SH4 installed?

You've probably put it in C:\Program Files \ Ubisoft \ Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific, or C:\Program Files(x86) \ ... dependent upon whether you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows. Most computers would come with Windows 10 64-bit installed on them, so your game is probably in the (x86) folder. THEBERBSTER has a link in his signature above there

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...18&postcount=1

and it has several things in it that you should read. I can't find the one I want though, which has a title for re-installing in Vista, but it would apply to Windows 10 also... Once you get used to things, Rockin Robbins post on creating a "Lock-Box" version first before you play is very useful

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...56&postcount=1

but is more advanced, and since he uses Ubuntu, it looks different, though the procedure is nearly identical...

btw, you do not need the disk to play the game, once it's installed, unless you have a v1.3 disk - or was it v1.2?... Old ones anyway...

Hi kv
Silent Hunter games are 32 bits which is why they always looks for the default Program File (x86) Directory.
It is not advisable to use this or the Program File Directory as these both carry restrictions.
Your problem could be down to a number of reasons.
Where it was installed.
How you saved your game.
Where you were in the game when you saved it.
Windows 10 is not particularly friendly to any of the SH versions unless a compatibility mode is used.
My advice is to run Windows 10 in compatibility mode Windows 7.
Change your SH4.exe to run as an administrator.
I also advise the same for any other applications like JSGME also.

If uninstalling the game do it from the Control Panels Program and Features not from the dvd.
Delete your game folder or the contents within it as there will be other files in there and possibly JSGME.
Your saved games are stored on the C drive in your Documents SH4 folder.
When uninstalling this optional whether to delete your saved games as part of the uninstall process or keep them to use again when the re-install has been completed.
Run a registry cleaner like Ccleaner and then reboot your system before re-installing.
Following a few simple rules is the difference between joy and frustration.
