Default It's like hearing an alcoholic

Some of my FB friends gets quarantine, a few gets a lot of these
quarantine.

They come back again or create fake profil, while their real profil is under this quarantine

when they have returned or have created these fake profil I asked them if it wasn't better if we created an free Danish political debate forum.

The answers I got throughout the years, made me recall all these excuses the alcoholics use to come up with.

What is it that make FB so addictive

I'm not an psychiatrists if I was I could perhaps understand what kind of mechanisms it's behind this addiction

The answer there is as varied as the members.

For some, quite obviously, it is an outlet which feeds their narcissism. They hunger for attention, and they post a picture n the hopes that it gains hundreds of likes. for each like gained they know they had someone else oohing and aaahing over whatever "amazing" thing it is they posted a picture of them doing.

Others, scroll almost endlessly to find the next funny picture, video or meme and share it for others to delight in. This type of facebook user is mostly harmless. they are just there for a giggle a couple of hours a day and nothing much else.

others still perhaps use it to cure boredom - even if for a moment

For me it is simply the fact just about all of my family use it and seeing as that not only includes my wife and kids but also those living in Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania, it is an easy means of staying in touch.

You could also add to the above my many friends situated around the world.

Drug addicts hooked on giving all their information away free to their FB drug dealers who in turn will steal the rest of their information.

I started using FB mainly to keep up with and stay in touch with the fire department after I retired. It became a big help staying in touch with family. I got connected with former classmates. I was able to branch out and find fire service related groups and now connected with fire firefighters world wide. I now make it a point to try to get on FB every day. Sometimes, I feel like it's an addiction.

The main thing I have against using it is the chunk of time it would demand to keep up with. I do have an account which I stopped using years and years ago, but FB never forgets, and tells all about what I'm missing daily.

I'm claiming that statement. Facebook never forgets!

Facebook is a great community, as long as you are aware of what kind of community it is and what it does with your information on their page and other web pages that have a direct connection to Facebook.

Those I had in my mind, when posting this thread, is friends who have posted writings which was fully legal according to the Danish Law of free speech, but nevertheless they get 3-30 ,days quarantine from FB.

And some of them get a lot of these quarantine, and they come back again and again.

It's those people I have asked if it wasn't better with a free Danish forum.
And they all had lots of excused

Lets take this forum. as an example.

Throughout the years I have witness newcomer who failed to behave and after some warnings and brigs they leave or they get keelhauled.

They do not come back with another alias( I haven't seen it yet)

The same have I also seen on former Danish forums. Members get warning, leave and do not come back.

But Facebook...
Lots of excuses….

That sounds to me just like General Topics at SubSim, just on a much smaller scale.

^^^ Yep. And...

My wife is on Facebook and she thinks it is great. The only thing she uses it for is to keep up with relatives and friends. She is also a very much a social person who would never say an unkind word. That's why I love her. I can be a little different. Hence the handle u crank which my son gave me. I am afraid that after seeing the umpteenth picture of someones dog I might say something unkind. Not in a malicious way but as a joke of course. The fallout would be epic.

So, no Facebook for me. People, even people I like can be annoying. The Internet is their playground.

This is very true. I made an account way back when Facebook was still getting popular to see photos my brother's friend had on his account and after checking the photos deleted my account. To this day I occasionally get an email from Facebook to let me know I can reactivate my account with "one simple click".
