Neal had a different server and as the forum kept growing he changed it like three times to what it is today. Which resets join date and number of post ... I use to be geetrue2 and enjoyed many good visits to subsim.com to fellowship with like minded people in love with submarines and submarine sims ... You should have seen the thread wars we had in the old days ... Those guys really knew how to fling it too, but SH2 came and went, SH3 is still hanging in there and SH4 will be top sub sim as soon as the modders get through. If the good Lord be willing I'll still be here for SH5 ... 03-19-2007, 09:35 PM #52 Reece Ocean Warrior Join Date: Sep 2003 Location: Down Under Posts: 3,237 @Geetrue: Well slap my mouth!! I have more proof than my own witness a year and a half ago ... i have old sea stories on a back up hdd ... I'll go find them. I've been onboard since 1999 ... started out as geetrue2. Been through several server changes ... someone said those old sea stories were still floating around out there in the wheeo' wheeo' world. Ask Torplexed or Takada ... I was here before they were ... I was here for 911 waiting for Destroyer Command to come out. Plus I think I attended the first or second sub sim meeting in Los Angeles in the spring of 2002. I've wandered around the web, but subsim's international community is the best for getting a good feeling for what other people in the world think ... sim wise and world news wise.

Tis True!! I was there with ya G! As I recall Neal was in LA at some game convention and several of us met him at his hotel and we went out to dinner. Back in them thar days I spent my time on the Wolf Pack League board.. I remember makin plans on how we would decimate the Destroyer Command players when it finally released... .. and then when DC was released I became one of the several *ahem* fairly adept Destroyer captains :p In fact I was leader of First Fleet for quite a while when I succeeded Onager I do miss those days...............

I wish i could prove it, all i remember is i ordered a cd with mods on it from Subsim for SH2, unless Neal keeps records of who buys what he might find one from a Guy in New Zealand and hopefully that was me!. What i do know back then around 2000 and up is i had to be taught how to make my own email address by a work mate i remember that clearly as he showed me how to make a hotmail address up! As i had no internet at home only at work so i was new to signing up to sites. But damn if i know what my user name would of been i had some guesses as i was a big fan of Quake with the user names "Kaos36" & Frank36 - Frank my name 36 was my age, so maybe I signed up on subsim with one of those names? Ive search some of the archives but with no luck.
Maybe one day i'll remember the name and find it on here.:hmm: |

OH!
MY! GOD! (or goddess or karma or whatever floats your boat)!!! Thank you, Spoon 11th! Your link to the old forums let me look around, and I found MY real first-ever post: http://www.subsim.com/phpBB_2002/vie...7343&forum=1&8 p.s. It seems I joined at the very end of December 2002; not November as it says here. But don't try to fix it, Neal. Remember what happened last time? :rotfl: [edit] Looking at the way I wrote that, I suspect that I did join in November but didn't post for awhile. Getting the lay of the land and all.

Hey I also found my first ever post at the subsim forums
http://www.subsim.com/phpBB_2002/vie...c=5492&forum=1 And guess what? It was about the chances of converting SH2 to the Pacific and US submarines :rotfl: P.S. Looking at the join/post date (22 september 2002) I was still 29!! (If only for a few days)

I wasn't here before Bill Nichols or John Channing and I'm not as good a liar as Sailor Steve but I deserve the prize. :p :p If you look carefully, you'll see that Neal has 0 posts and I have over 150, so I was here posting BEFORE Neal even created Subsim, so I WIN !! |

Thank you StdDev for the confindence building witness of we were there ... but that was 2002, right?
About five of us and Neal I do believe ... I had to pull over in Orange County on my way back to San Diego and climb in back to take a rest I was so tired, but it was a lot of fun to finally meet people in person that had previously just been user names. But I got here to the old Sub Club in 1999 ... surely Neal has a member list from the old days somewhere ... did the WPL have numbers of when we signed up? Here's the first post from a simple online search that I can find: Quote:

From the EzBoard days (2000)
I passed by looking for patches for SH1 and found news of the upcoming SH2. Later SH2 was released and I can remember the big fuss when the MP patch for SH2 was on the way. It released in February/March 2002 I think. Thats the earliest I can remember....I also remember sharing some photos of my apartment. Partial proof: 11th September 2001: I remember clearly the whole DeerhunterUK scare! He was supposed to go to the WTC, but didnt that morning for some reason. We thought he had and that we had lost him Subsim phpbb Post since February 2002: http://www.subsim.com/phpBB_2002/vie...pic=61&forum=3
