Default Navy & Suburbia - a morning trip with pics

After Volkswagen denied the substantial discount for a Fox I think I deserve for months of good legal advice, I choose a Peugeot 206 as my new car.

To enjoy the new mobility, I planned a trip to Tigre, 30 km from Buenos Aires. Wife tought we went there to relax and for some sunbathing. Wrong. Destination: Naval Museum.

30º celsius, a hot an humid day in Buenos Aires area. Car & Me.

Some interesting thing in there. My fifth visit, and sure not the last one. But first time I took the Camera.

Anyone knows the name of that puppy? Bought from Germany in 1936 (a full battery) for the Marine Corps. My personal favorite of the museum.

Then I met an old friend. We used to snorkeling together...

An Exocet AM 39.

Battleship Moreno. Once the pride of the Argentinian Navy and the best battleship in South America.

Hedgehogs...ready to fire.

Time to go to the park.

A Panther, a Skyhawk and a Trojan in the Naval Aviation Section.

Now the Malvinas war veteran, A4Q Skyhawk, from 3 Naval Fighter & Attack Sqn "Tabanos". Isn´t she pretty? Now, If i could arm it with the Exocet...

F9F Panther. The first jet fighter in the ARA.

The original bridge of ARA Alferez Sobral. Was attacked by british helicopters May 3 1982, when she was searching for a BAC Canberra crew. A missile punched the bridge, killing her skipper and others. She made the voyage to port. Still in service, with another bridge, of course.

Note the missile hole.

Naval guns. Wife was getting anxious. Time to buy and ice cream, some walking and tactical retreat.

Hope you like it!

The museum is big and covers from the Egiptians to the modern day. Those pics are just a sample.

Yes, I liked the pictures Marcantilan ... but where's the pictures of your wife sunbathing? Just kidding

Very nice of you to share with us ... What kind of camera is that? The pictures are good quality, but five or six didn't load.

All loaded for me.

That's pretty cool, seeing some of that stuff in person. If I could get a translator, that would be a pretty cool trip!

Nice pics.

Isn't that a 8.8cm Flugabwehr-Kanone 36?

Yes, the big gun in the 2nd and 3rd pic is a German Flak 88. It´s still in perfect shape (you could even move the barrel if the museum curator isn´t watching). Now bring those Matildas to the range...

The pics were taken by my very amateur Kodak Cx6200 (2.0mp maximum), and resized to 800x600.

If someone is in Buenos Aires area and want to know the Naval Museum, mail me. Sure the museum is not in the Sheraton catalog...

Oberon, I planned to fit the Exocet in the car´s roof, but finally ended buying this one, a navy surplus...
