Glad I read this
I was just wanting to find out what mods I should install on the game. I love the realism that could potentially be added though these mods. Super keen to continue adding them.

My first visit back to the forum since Dangerous Waters was released.
Played RSR to death back in the day and finally discovered Cold Waters last week. Promptly purchased and played. It is amazing how much you forget over almost 30 years.... Anyway, game runs great on laptop running Windows 10 PRO, however, when I installed it onto my desktop which is connected to my wide screen TV, the game loads as normal. On clicking into single mission or training list, the game processes through to the page with the signal from the boss giving me Command of my boat. The Opposite window, only has a grid in it, no submarine shows at all. When I then click 'Accept' I get a message saying that the game has crashed. Anyone got any ideas why?

The download came from Steam. Just been playing it again on the laptop without any problems. I will try uninstalling and re-installing on the desktop and see how that goes.

I myself finally bought this game and have been loving it. I watched a few videos randomly on youtube got interested and got it! Just completed my first campaign. WOOT!! just practice and find what works for you in what situation. I have issues in the shallows still but I am learning.

@Granimal: Welcome to Subsim and congratulations on completing your first campaign. Feels pretty satisfying in this game.

A net of decoys works as well sometimes, say 3 or more usually confuse most, particularly if a decoy got fired ahead of time. If you're dropping and dodging, might as well do it strategically, and run back to another active one.

Newbie, with Lagging? issues
Hi All
I’ve been attempting to poke around with a couple of the training missions, my issue is with my keyboard and mouse control lag times in relation to the 3d under water view, and sometimes giving commands via mouse click. When I use my right click and hold to pan around my sub its almost like its receiving double input, it doesn’t move initially then seem so move twice a far as I’d like. An example would be looking bow on, panning to the right, it almost jumps to 3/4 stern view. I’ve got to barely move my mouse to get to a 90 deg view of my sub. the same goes for using the keyboard, clicking once on the right arrow key brings me to 3/4 stern view. The same issue happens when panning around weapons or aircraft or even targets or ships and occurs also during zooming, where ether I’m too close or a 1/2 mile back away with one turn(mouse) or click on the - key. In watching online videos I’ve seen what looks to be very smooth scrolling, which allows for better spatial awareness and or torpedo evasion. currently I’m unable to really do much of that due to the jumping around of the views. I have played the camera sensitivity control as well as turning off video features to see if that helps and if anything the sensitivity option just makes me scroll farther for the same jumpiness. I did attempt to edit the steam settings which did help a little, I would love to play without any connection to steam but as of now I don’t see a way to do that. I have a 2gb Video card with a I7 desktop from a couple years back with 16GB RAM and I have little trouble with most of the other games I’m playing. Any help would be appreciated in resolving this issue, the lag currently makes the sim almost unplayable, but I'll bet I’m missing something simple or an obvious setting of some type. Thanks BinMinnie |

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cold Waters ...and double click ColdWaters.exe You can even make a shortcut to the .exe or pin it if you like. CW doesn't need Steam to run.
