What I do right off the bat is uninstall the stock drivers. (this has bit me in the rear-end a couple of times, so backup completely before hand! you've been forewarned) You can uninstall the drivers and programs by using the native windows uninstaller (start> control panel>uninstall a program).
Then you will have to reboot. Make sure before you reboot that you have already downloaded DDU (Display Drivers Uninstaller). As it starts booting backup, keep tapping the F8 key untill it asks you if you would like to start windows normally, or safe mode, etc., etc. Choose safe mode with networking. Once in safe mode (and you will know you are by the window popping up asking if you want to run in safe mode.) run the DDU program. Here' s how I do it. First I run DDU and uninstall the Nvidia driver by selecting uninstall and reboot method after dropping the drop box and choosing nvidia. ![]() Now as it's rebooting tap F8 again to get back into safe mode. This time, choose the intel drivers. ![]() Once you have done that, let it bootup into normal windows and it will install the vesa drivers semi-automatically. Once it's done, it will ask you to reboot again. After rebooting again, you can proceed to install the Intel drivers. Yup you guessed it! reboot again. Now once the Intel drivers are installed and you have rebooted, install the nvidia drivers. I only install the physX and drivers. I stay away from the Geforce Experience as I've had bad Experiences (pun intended) with it. Now reboot again. Run a system clean, disk clean, and defrag. Now install MSI Afterburner. (Only use MSI Afterburner if you have a Nvidia card. Will not work with ATI or Intel graphics.) This program let's you do a couple of things. First and foremost it allows you to monitor your temps in game. When GPU's and CPU's get heated up, they work less efficiently. the hotter they get, the less efficient they become until they fry. (It works just like fraps, but it's free. It even captures screenshots and videos.) Now you have to do some setup, but just search it on google. Secondly it allows you to log the performance it monitors so you can post the file online for others to read and thus help resolve issues if there is ever the need. Last (and I put this last because on laptops this is very dangerous) you can overclock your gpu/memory and adjust fan speeds. I overclock when I'm going to be recording, otherwise I leave it alone. Lastly install ToolWiz Care or ToolWiz GameBoost. I personally use ToolWiz Care because it includes gameboost plus a lot more. like system cleaning tools and such. ![]() Game Boost just shuts down services that aren't needed during gameplay, then when you exit gameboost it starts it back up. It also defrags JUST the games directory. ![]() For My Nvidia Control panel settings, this is what they look like: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() of game. 30 seconds long.
