Black Crew

I'm SO close to enjoying and really settling into this game...

One issue that's still getting me peeved is the black crewmen. It's happens most times I play. I suffer damage, the lights flicker and all my crew lose there textures. They're just flat black with red eyes. I know I've seen someone else bring this issue up so I know I'm not alone here. How many others are getting this? Is there a fix? It kinda breaks the flow when you have to save, exit (mid combat) and reload just to get your crew back.

I'm running it on a nVidia Quadro FX2500m by the way. Driver ver. 91.33.

In the meantime I'm going to try removing all the AA and effects to see if this helps.

Wait out...

Thanks but,

Nah... nothing useful in there. I tried minimizing and restoring but, no joy.

Are you running a laptop??

*Not Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
ATI(r): 9200 and below/9500
NVIDIA(r): 5200 and below/5600/5700/5800/5900
Laptop models of these cards are not supported.

Seems like you have a business type laptop. Just because they say its super-duper doesnt mean it will play games very well as that's not its design.

I get the same problem once in a great while with my system. EVGA 7900GT with all the finest drivers. Since it goes away I haven't really delved into what's causing it. But when it does happen, I lock myself in my cabin and never venture into the control room until I get back to port or reload the game.

They look more like undead shadows from Neverwinter Nights 2. Scary Stuff and, I admit, annoying.

Well... lol... I originally bought my laptop with a 7950GTX in for the purpose of playing games. I had screen issues. Was returned to manufacturer under warranty and came back with the Quadro FX2500m in. This is besides the point though because I got the same thing with 7950GTX (which I've read is the same hardware, just optimised for CAD etc.) Incidentally, the Quadro runs the game almost as fast except AA causes much less drag, so I can play with 4xAA now. I read in another forum, about the same issue someone saying 'I bet you have an ATI card, I switched cards and it stopped'. So, I don't think it's a Quadro or even nvidia specific problem. Laptop, possibly... yes. Anyone getting this with a desktop then? By the way I just turned to 16bit colour, AA/texture filtering off and in game effects to minimum. Went out... took a beating (on purpose) and it didn't happen. I'll play some more before I confirm this though.

Weird, what used to happen was I got all White men, you could still see shapes and light relecting off them etc, but they were lacking textures and where completly white..

used to happen after I'd taken damage...

doesn't happen anymore..

are you patched up to 1.3??

if not and you dont want to patch up try the interior lighting shader file that was included in 1.3 in whatever previous game version you are running..

This has only started happening to me After 1.3. Never saw it before that. It's also a quite rare occurance and I figure I'll figure out what causes it in time. Just a matter of cause and effect that eventually reveals itself in computers.

If I figure out the cause I'll post it--whether or not I can fix it remains a mystery.

Cheers!

Does it happen after a bad Depth Charge attack? Maybe they're covered in "****"?:rotfl:
