Default Prey tell, what is THAT!?!?

While patrolling and sinking enemy ships in and around the Luzon Straight, I ran down this ghostly configuration. It appears to also be emitting puffs of 'clouds' not smoke.
Can somebody explain this thing?
Is it the enemy?
Should I sink it?

Thanks

I think you have no choice but to sink it. Humans have been destroying what we don't understand for thousands of years. It's in our blood.

Because we can't be sure what it is, it will require a full-door salvo of torpedoes. That should do it.

I do believe you have stumbled upon the ghost ship 'The Flying Dutchman', doomed forever to sail the seven seas and scare the bejayzus out of any who would be foolish enough to cross her.

BEWARE!

My sub only does 23 knots. This thing is doing at least 30.
I can't catch it.

What is it?

Looks like an ocean to me. Maybe it's a submerged submarine?

Oh, that old story again. People keep claiming it's in the game, but I say it's a lie, much like Japanese aircraft carriers. They're all just stories that Admirals tell their skippers to keep them awake at night.

Don't listen to Uncle Razark. He's a well-known Dutchman Denier.

The Dutchman isn't real, unless it is. If it's just in your mind, does that make it real? If it's just in the game, does that make it false? I think your crew is imagining it and projecting the image on to the computer screen. Or do they really see it? Maybe you see it, and you're projecting the image to them.

Sailor Steve has obviously fallen into the clutches of the Flying Dutchman cartel. Those guys will stop at nothing to make people think there's some sort of "ghost ship" in SH4.

The best perscription I can perscribe when the Flying Dutchman comes calling is an extra ration of torpedo juice for the whole crew.

If you get close enough to it on an initial run it will slow so you can get closer to it. The Japanese in the game are not to fond of her and want her to expedite their take over of the Pacific Ocean.

The simpler explanation is that somebody forgot to lock up the medicinal alcohol.
