I’ve seen all these “playable” mods but I don’t think I understand how to use them or to what extent they can be used. Can they only be used in certain versions of the game such as 1.5; are they used to build new scenarios around them; can you actually fire the large turret guns of some of the battleships? I’ve downloaded some of them looking for direction but I’m still lost relative to their use. I’ve searched the forum but haven’t been able to find answers to these questions. Can someone explain how to use these playable mods? I think they’re fascinating, but I’m lost relative to how to work with them. Thanks in advance to all you modders.

Hi Ham,
The "playable" mods means that you can control the ship like a normal sub. Bear in mind that it is only the exterior that is changed, the interior remains the same. Yes you can fire the main gun turrets on the ships, but only one turret because of the restrictions of the game engine. However, stand on the bridge, use the binos to select a target and lock on and all your turrets will fire. Awesome sight

Most ships are built with a few maps incorporated to the mod, so you can fire them up and go. Alot are "careerable" meaning you can play a campaign with them.

How to use - If you have JSGME and know how to use it then you just install like a normal mod, and then select the ship from the select sub. menu.

If you don't have JSGME then follow this link http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsgme.html

Download it, then install it to your SH4 folder X:/Program files/Ubisoft/SH4
it will ask you if you want to make a "MODS" folder. Click yes and finish install.

Now, to add your MODS, when you download the Mod extract the whole file to your news MODS folder, then open up your JSGME from the desktop icon, highlight the Mod you just installed and click the > button. This enables the MOD.

Hope this helps!
