I am trying to set up a single-player mission with the Gato class sub, but the game lists every submarine but the Gato in the main single-player mission menu. I've made sure the box is checked allowing the player to use the Gato, and the date for the mission is after the Gato was introduced, but nonetheless I can't get the mission to work right! What am I doing wrong?

Hmmm, didn't check that out before. I use the Porpoise-classes lately. Can't help you now as I'm at work. Maybe someone can. I'll check this out when I get home.

I piddled around with it this morning and I am stumped as well. I wrote a few missions back last spring and I don't recall it being like this. :shifty:

Everytime I set up a Gato for a mission, it gets assigned as a 'neutral' ship. When I place the Gato, it is on the Allied side, but when I look at the Gato's properties immediately afterwards, it says 'neutral.' :hmm:

Then I tried setting up a Balao mission (Balao is correctly listed as 'Allied'), and the Balao does not appear in the mission's ingame drop-down box for sub selection...the Gato is there as is every other sub type, but no Balao. :damn:

We desperately need tater or lurker to chime in with a little help! :yep:

Launch SH4 Mission editor
Open or create a mission
Go to Mission menu and select Parametershttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/lurker_hlb3/Image2.jpg
Note the “mission start” information ( year month day hour minute )http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/lurker_hlb3/Image3.jpg
Create or selected “player” sub
Open “properties” window
In the “Entry” sub-window add the same year-month-day-hour-minute that you find in step 4
Check the “evolve from entry data”
Note the “unit version date” area that is half down the “properties” page
Change values for “Month” and “Year” to equal year and month of the “entry” window.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/lurker_hlb3/Image4.jpg

Sounds like a lot of redundancy. It's probably more complicated than it needs to be, which I find ironic, since other aspects of the game were under developed.

Pardon me, but since I had some troubles in making my own missions with the editor I was wondering If there is a comprehensive guide/manual for the mission editor. If there is one, where can I find it?:ahoy:

How do you add the ability to select a different sub via the drop down box in the mission select screen....

Does the above referenced fix/tutorial address this as well?

I'm stuck with only being able to select the "Porpoise" in each mission (even in 1945) but would love to be able to select a different sub from the drop down list?
