IL-2 Sturmovik: where is the mod community?

I have recently bought the gold edition of Forgotten Battles: I can't find any good mods- may I ask where the mod community is based? I'm pretty sure there must be one, as it is a very good and popular game. Could anyone point me towards any fansites for IL-2 FB?

Aside from mission makers and skinners there is not really what you would call a mod community for Forgotten battles. The game doesn't allow for any modding other than new missions or skins.

Sure locking the game up like this limits what can be done with it, however this also gives everyone the benefit of having the same game other than prehaps installed skins.

Just take a look at MS CFS2 I can't even count the number of times it went snafu due to some joe nobody host running aftermarket planes.
