Default A complete, translated mission editor guide!

Well 2024 certainly helps when it comes to a manual written in Russian. I was able to get all the text translated via chatgpt and then after much faffing about got all the images and text in the correct order.

Chatgpt will let me upload a pdf in Russian and read it in english but will not translate it, you have to cut and paste every paragraph individually.

So here it is for anyone that might want to create missions for T34 vs Tiger in 2024... if only!

T34 vs Tiger Mission Editor manual English

How is this tank simulation (or game) in terms of the ability to create new terrains or script good missions involving not only tanks but other supporting forces like infantry etc?

I have this game on my HD somewhere, but in comparison to Graviteam's Steel Fury 1942 it comes out a little of lighter caliber and style.

Still, "one should not judge a good book by the cover alone".

There is a full mission editor which has the ability to create terrains. NSU did it for the mmp mod and from what I can remember he said it was not the easiest task.

As for missions we (mmp) concentrated on mp so missions was not really our thing. ZeeWolf was the sp guy and his mod has a lot more sp missions.

From reading the translated guide you can edit the missions in the editor on the fly!

As for the comparison to Steel Fury, there is a lot more in that game but this has it's merrits

Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942 focuses on the Eastern Front of World War II, particularly around the Kharkov region. It is known for its detailed tank models, realistic physics, and the ability to participate in various roles within the tank crew. The game offers a range of missions and emphasizes historical accuracy in terms of vehicles, weaponry, and battle scenarios. Its modding community has also expanded its replay value through various mods that add new content and improve gameplay.

T-34 vs. Tiger, on the other hand, narrows its focus to the iconic clash between German and Soviet forces, specifically highlighting the T-34 and Tiger tanks. This game is appreciated the realistic portrayal of tank operations. The control system is designed to replicate the complexity of real tank maneuvering, providing a deep simulation experience. However, compared to Steel Fury, it has a more limited scope in terms of playable tanks and missions.

Default Mission building

I played about with the mission editor years ago. And I believe at the time I had an English manual for the editor. However it was very limited.
I managed to modify Tiger Trap a little. One of my favorite maps/missions however you would like to call it. I added some.... Nerble Warfers?? I forget the name now lol. The rocket launchers. I placed them behind sandbags. I think I got as far as them shooting at me. I placed a platoon or well a group of solders in the woods. Never managed to get them to move anywhere.

It would be fun to see people making missions. Or perhaps collaborating on making "a" mission. I remember the open source days of Microsoft Combat Sim and there were soooo many people making stuff and sharing. Till IL2 came along and that was the end of that sim.
It would be fun to make some new objects for the maps. Cattle and live stock for example. Civilians. Stuff to make a more realistic atmosphere.
It would be cool if the AI could be improved. I like playing offline. But would like more challenging AI/Bot opponents.
This is a fun game for those of us who collect old PC's and need fun software for older systems.

Default Manual

I just downloaded your AI manual translation. AI and you... does that equal Cyborg translation?
Wow lots more here to work with.
I think you mentioned using AI to help develop a mission?? Maybe on another thread. If so would like to hear more about that. Very interesting concept.

Hello OGinCanada,

Thank you for taking the time to look at the latest version of the "T34 vs Tiger A Modder's Handbook with AI Analysis v2." This manual is put together to help modders of all levels navigate the complex architecture of the T34 vs Tiger game, providing insights into the script-driven system and custom-built engine used by the game.
Key Aspects:

  • Game Systems Detailed: The handbook covers critical systems such as Terrain, Water, and AI, explaining how they operate and how they can be modified through modding.
  • Modding Guidance: It offers practical advice on modifying the game, emphasizing starting small and understanding the interdependencies within the game's code.
  • AI Integration: AI tools were used to translate and make sense of the game's codebase, enhancing the accuracy and depth of the guidelines provided.
The manual aims to equip you with the knowledge to create impactful mods and navigate the game's legacy code challenges. It's a blend of technical guidance and creative encouragement to explore new modding possibilities.

It also serves as a bit of a map for anyone going over the same ground as myself.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and any feedback on this approach.

Best regards,

murkz
