Hello, again Polak2!!!

I have interest in Gunship! My father-in-law gave me Gunship 2000 way back in the mid ‘90s and I recall playing it and learning all the keyboard commands. That older version reminded me a lot of M1 Tank Platoon 1989. I still have the Gunship 2000 disks, manual, overlay, box, everything.

I think I’m going to rediscover that title before I round up a copy of Gunship!


Quick question: Is Windows XP required to run Gunship! ? I’m seeing that in the internet but I don’t know if they’re referring to the Steam version.

Gunship 2000 is quite different fame from Gunship!. Gameplaywise some say Gunship2000 was superior but I have never tried. On the other hand, I can assure you though that Gunship! is a deeper simulation than it shows initialy.

I might have played a Gunship! demo years ago. Oh, I can see it’s light years ahead of Gunship 2000. Got my sights on a copy of that title next!

How do I use waypoints in Gunship?
Several ways, but you must get used to the fact that when you change from - let's say - WP 1 to WP 2, WP 1 disappears and WP 2 changes name to WP 1, and then all the rest also go down a number.

The easy way to change waypoints, (which requires the Patch), is to press shift w. That'll do the above and you can do it anytime, but normally of course when you pass WP 1.

This seems to be working fine "Shift W" when in the pilot (?) seat and next waypoints get deleted.

The original way is to use the Command Menu available via the TAB key. Pressing "TAB - 1 - 6 - 3 - TAB -TAB" is a "bit" more complicated, but using the TAB key also gives you other possibilities by showing you the details for every WP .You can also give other orders like "Hold Fire" or "Fire at will" and much more. You can look through it as it's rather self explaining.

I think this works too but I need more training here.

Third option is to enter the overview Map Screen by pressing the n key, and then either move WP's by drag/drop, make a new WP (max 6) by a left click on the map, or delete one by a right click on the WP. Here on the right side of the screen you can also change the orders related to each WP (Nap of the Earth to Tactical for example), and make changes like altering a BP (battlepoint) to a LZ (Landing zone) etc. But that's another story.

This is buggy. Only works 100% in the lowest resolution set in CONFIGURATION 640x480. Maybe we could test to find if any other resolution works too or fix this bug.
