Default Damaged torpedo tubes

Hi all,

During a depthcharge bombardment i lost the use of all my front, (sorry), tubes.
I told the chap downstairs to fix things, and i clicked on the hammer icon. But to no avail. At one stage i was notified that tube 4 was fixed. When i tried to use it i was told it was unusable. I decided to return to base. After the refit the four tubes where still unusable.

Is there a way to mend the tubes without ending the mission? It's getting a bit dodgy just using the deck gun, (which i can't use in rough whether).

I hope this makes sense. Any questions, please ask.

Oh well.
It looks like i'll have to end the mission and start again.
I was really hoping that i could get away with doing that.

Thanks to everyone who had a look at my predicament.

ATB and good hunting.

Hey friend don't give up here! Do you perhaps have TheDarkWraith's new UI mod? Silent Hunter 5 is a big fat buggy mess and you should not just give up here. Now I think the only choice is to end the patrol in your naval base (Kiel, Bremen etc.) but that does not mean end the mission.
Ending a patrol is just basically getting a full repair done and upgrades and such which could be useful for you. Here is a tip for you when you are about to get depth charged. When you hear the destroyer or cruiser or whatever go over you go ahead flank and and do a hard to port or starboard which can really help in a situation like that as you take less damage to parts and such. Also make sure you are not on Silent running because that makes no repairs possible or reloading possible. If you have already been detected than don't worry about staying silent. Just avoid the depth charge and you won't get stuck.

SilentHunts,

Thanks for your reply. I installed TheDarkWraith's new UI mod, but the forward tubes where not repaired. I then went to port for a refit. The tubes where still not repaired. So I had to end the patrol, and start again with the loss of the two ships that I sank previously.

Now when i start the game, by clicking on the saved game, it closes to uplay.

Hi Captain

I would always suggest ending the patrol rather than refitting as refitting causes larger amounts of data needing to be controlled.

End the patrol, upgrade your boat with any earned renown and bonus points to the crew, continue with the mission.

Boat 100% repaired.

Hi Peter, thanks for your input.

There's one thing that confuses me. Yourself and SilentHunts talk about ending the patrol as if you carry on the game from where you left off, and keeping any tonnage that you had acquired. When I ended my patrol, I had to restart the patrol from the beginning, and with that, as I said above, I lost the tonnage that I had previously sunk.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Gary

Quote > Yourself and SilentHunts talk about ending the patrol as if you carry on the game from where you left off, and keeping any tonnage that you had acquired.

Yes, this is totally correct.

When you end a patrol in the middle of a patrol, your end of patrol save is a Autosave Enter Base (AEB) .

When you load this AEB save you are back in the bunker.

You go to the Flotilla Leader.

1. What are my mission orders.

Do not select this.

Go to 2. Lets start the new patrol.

Are you sure you want to start the new patrol without choosing a mission.

Select 1. Yes.

You are already in a mission so you do not want to start a new one otherwise you will lose everything you have already achieved.

Your game will load with your tonnage bar showing your previous sinkings.

The Captains Log starts a new patrol.

Each patrol going back to when you started your new career can be seen in the Captains Log and is viewable by selecting the drop down tags.

The advantage when you end the patrol is that you can upgrade your boat with the renown that you have earned if you wish to or save it.

You can give bonus points to your crew as you see fit.

The downside unlike a refit which does not penalize the time spent refitting is the time spent in the bunker advances the date.

This advanced time can be offset by using the mod Change Days In Bunker and manually changing the defaults days 14 to your own choice.

Thanks Peter.
That makes things a whole lot clearer.
I'll know better next time.
