You need not apologize for what you do not feel.

Strange, I aslo have a retriever (Labrador) and I'm surprised that this happened. Bad luck yes.

And don't tell me about their apetite. The list of things mine ate includes a plastic model of the Graff Spee and a cell phone

Also gute Besserung for your dog, Hottentot, hope he has no pain. Looks like the vet did his job!
In my layman's knowledge I only heard of chicken bones being dangerous because of splintering, didn't know that pig bones are also dangerous.

In retrospect, the vet visit may not have been necessary: the bone parts were stuck, but they were not (fortunately for the dog and my wallet) removed by surgical means. They are slowly coming out naturally, or at least that's what we hope at the moment. A dog can have things like this happen without the owner even noticing it, because it is not always dangerous.

But when my dog is pooping blood, I'm not going to wait and see if it's going away on it's own. I know where the my own abilities end, and that's a 100% sure sign.

Basically any bone can be dangerous, but it depends. Most bones come out without trouble, like I explained above. Boiled chicken bones are bad, because they are prone for splintering, but just as they don't necessarily splinter and cause trouble, likewise any bone can splinter and be a nasty problem. That's why I don't like taking risks with them.

Edit: And it of course also depends on what your dog can digest, that's highly individual thing. Some of the dogs I have met could probably have eaten steel and pooped chains without any problems whatsoever.

Because you treat them as dignified human beings and therefore must invest enough time in them to notice such things?

Do like the SWAT does: "bang and clear."

Bah humbag. A woman is something not important enough to loose sleep over. And I am certain as hell I'm not going to save her from herself. I'm tired of doing that. If she's not bleeding she's not my problem.

It's the feeling that things are not moving anywhere
Hottentot's right, I'm too friendly. Bloody humanitarian

Because all women are crazy or damaged! Never met a sane or unbroken one yet.
