World's first flying car gets official road license
But for the time being just driving, not flying. Still, this is a landmark.
https://www.pal-v.com/ One version weighs 660 kg, price is 500,000 Euros. A second versions costs just half of that.

Would never trust myself in one of them....far too dangerous in my estimation.

The car or the driver?

Both if I'm to be totally honest.
I wouldn't like to see them over populated areas such as towns and cities either. Any resultant fall to earth after a mid-air collision could potentially create mass carnage.

Although this sounds like a great idea to aid in over congestion on the highways, the end result will be congestion in the skies. Another factor to consider is a lack of navigation aids to rule out in flight collisions.
This is little more than a proof of concept for flying cars. More work is needed before they could be considered safe. |

I reckon they would have to follow established flight paths and adhere to the big book of flight rules and take-off and land at regulated airfields. The big difference being after it lands the operator pushes a button to fold its wings. Then drive directly to the pub for a few cold ones without the need to rent a car or call a taxi.

No thanks. I'd rather spend the remaining few years of my life in a safer environment.

... as long as you do not step on the 'clutch' during final approach ..
But use will be limited if it cannot start/land vertically.. this is an autogyro and needs speed to take off

I see a change in the way people is getting their driving license.
The classic driving instructor will also have to change on how they are educated. Markus |

Yeah, exactly! Reminds me of the man who never bordered his submarine without his parachute.
