Sub cracks open at 40m depth

I find it weird that when I press the dive option below the periscope depth (that is 40 m below surface), my sub cracks open like a walnut. As far as I know i have no serious damage, unless you consider a broken radio (which is already repaired) serious.

Anyway it bothers me, how can i run from destroyers if my U-boat goes into oblivion when I go below 30 m depth. Anyone can help?

On a side note, great game!

Ahoy Joer
If you have any mods loaded be careful. There is at least one mod out there when you order dive, it never stops diving, that is, you have to command it to stop diving. So, check your depth as you are diving, the sub should not "crack open" until your in "the red". Most u-boats will take well over 200 meters. Look at your depth gauge (it's right above the dive/surface command buttons on the bottom left of the screen).
If your ship is spliting open at 40 meters there is either somthing wrong with your install or maybe your hitting bottom.

You're right, somehow my sub didn't stop diving.

Any idea to fix this? Or do I have to overseer the diving everytime?

Hi!

As far as I know it is not a mod causing this, but rather a stock bug that was FIXED by one of TDWs mods. It was a dedicated mod somewhere and now it could be integrated in the newUIs. I am pretty sure to remember something, although I am not perfectly sure on details. TDW could probably clear the fog.

I remember it was only for the Type VII/A. What sub do you have when the problem occurs?

it was on a VIIA, in the Straits of Dover.

and strangely enough, today I crossed the Celtic Sea at 40 m depth and nothing happened.

search for "depth keeping problem" in this forum. I think the VII/A is not able to maintain the depth if it is not moving. If you are moving, the problem did not occur (if memory serves me right)...

My sub was moving when it happend, we went with flank speed ahead.

And I've been transfered to a VII/B so I technically shouldn't have this bug anymore.

@ Regn: Install the Mighty Fine Crew MOD and they will move inside before diving. Not sure but this might have already been fixed with the 1.2 patch.

@ the ones with "please stop diving"-issues :

Try this http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=179746

cheers
