Problems? What problems? Aces of the Deep's TDC is always automatic, so you simply must lock on the target and the info goes automatically to the TDC. Depending on the quality of your crew (Well and of course the distance and angle to target - sharp angles and high distance add error margin), the result will be a better or a worser shoot, but that's all. :p

You mean the pop up menu with the visible TDC when pressing "T"? No, I don't think it has any functionality EXCEPT allowing you to set the spread of your salvoes and of course seeing the target data -distance, course, etc.- to judge if the shot is worth it. May be the devs had thought about adding a manual TDC and the lack of time or the poor graphics of that time made it a lesser priority. Who knows...

Prahaps they will add it in the next patch.

The quite silly TDC control of AOD sometimes is useful.

I use it to set a different angle for the next launch, when unsure if the automatic settings are fine.

Often this method works, but the only way to know data for manual settings is your intuition.

You know, after SH4 cools off in about 3 months, I think we need an Aces of the Deep Revival

I'll have to hook up my Pentium 90 with Win95 to play that rascal again I wonder how long a computer can sit idle and still function?

If I can get my new CD-Drive to co-operate long enough, maybe I can post some of my old CAOD logbooks for the masses. I'm planning on starting a new career
soon.

Just use DOSBOX. I was playing last night and just made contact with a convoy. Will do a wolfpack attack later today when I get to play again. Some screen pics:

Personally, I prefer AOD over CAOD.

I'll probably be getting SH3/SH4 soon ... but AOD has everything you need to have a good time and more. (Actually, need to play some SHCE too. It's been too long.)

SH2/PA was a stellar piece of modding work, but ultimately I gave up with it due to the unfixed bugs in SH2 itself: mission save corruption, poor AI behavior, TC problems, ... Such a shame as there was so much potential there.

U-54 AAR Convoy Attack Grid AJ3862

Quote:
04/25/41

13:33 - Escort spotted; observe.

13:38 - Convoy spotted. Dive/evading escort.

17:35 - Surfaced; contact report sent; dive until nightfall.

18:31 - Surfaced; request orders.

20:41 - Orders received; shadow convoy.

23:48 - Orders received; attack convoy.

04/26/41

02:11 - Other wolfpack u-boats spotted.

02:56 - Clear night; full moon; visibility 10km; very difficult surface approach; will attack submerged. Inside screen and ahead of convoy; dive!

03:10 - @150M drifting into convoy path.

05:10 - @150M merchants screws above; coming to periscope depth.

05:20 - @PD; four fish fired; 2 at 10,000 ton troop ship at 1700M; 2 at 7,000 ton freighter at 700M. Escorts distant out at 10km. Staggered launches and went deep.

05:23 - Diving. 1 dud, troop ship damaged; two hits on freighter sunk.

05:40 - @150M escorts start ASW search, but do not have good fix. Depth charges dropped randomly. Running silent at 1kts out the back of the convoy.

09:05 - Escorts give up search. Convoy moves off. Surface/recharging batteries.

Looking at my screen shot, I just realized something really upsetting. AOD doesn't support FSAA! Aargh!
