[REL] Gato Ss-272 Redfin Skin
GATO REDFIN SS-272 Skin for SH4 Made by Captain Cox Quote:
SHARK MOUTH ONLY DOWNLOAD LINK REDFIN HI-RES: http://files.filefront.com/HI_RES_REDFIN_rar/;7544429;/fileinfo.html DOWNLOAD LINK REDFIN SHARK MOUTH ONLY: http://files.filefront.com/HI_RES_REDFIN_SHARK_MOUTHrar/;7544484;/fileinfo.html Gato 43-45 As you can see the Bow-Planes are RED!, keep on reading and you will see why. Tuned the hull color to a lighter gray and less weathering. Gato 42 Lighter Gray and less weathering As for the Bow-Planes....check this out! Not bad hey! but hang on...check this :p weird hu!...Don't know why, but the skin don't map mirrored, no idea as how to fix that!. So I did a compromise with the Red Bow-Planes, I know its not 100% but believe me if i could I would have done it proper, hope that's OK. This is a graphic skin mod for the GATO Class Submarine in SH4 Its based on photos of the SS-272 Redfin. For reference see: http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/08272.htm This Mod contains 2 skins, one for the earlier version of the Gato 1942. And one for the later version 1943-45 Install: Simply use with JSGME If you don't have it get it here: http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products.html Final Release! Download Link : http://files.filefront.com/GATO_SS_2.../fileinfo.html Enjoy!

Yup I will look in the morn...time for bed here. But what beats me is that they used such a big area for the emblems and stuff...tha Japs must have been able to see that from miles!, but again all boats had to remove this stuff by end of 44-45.

To the best of my recollection, I used to be able to see their many archived pictures. I even tried right clicking and show picture but that does not work. I am using IE. Any clues on how I can view pictures on this great archive site? EDIT... NEVER MIND!! I found the problem. It was in my Zone Alarm settings.

"A painted Redfin (SS-272) at Pearl Harbor with some unknown company; the colorful art would have to come off before they went out to sea again, circa 1945." from the http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/08272.htm web site I love the work you have done, and I use it. I just don't think they went to sea with it painted on though. But I'll still keep using it on my boat anyway.

That is a top skin! You've done the pictures proud, looks exactly the same, except the dive planes, but that's an engine limitation, not a modder limitation.
I'm really impressed!

The reversal of textures in SH4's skins seems to be the same problem we had in B17 Flying Fortress "The Mighty 8th". The tail and fuselage numbers were always reversed on the B17s when new skins were made. I can't remember the fix but there was one at one time. Maybe Beery remembers and can tell the skin makers how to do it.

Great job! Looks awesome!
Thanks! Only one minor problem in file name: For those who use low res textures... If u see new texture only on tower change file name in folder "Data\Submarine\NSS_Gato\" from "NSS_Gato__T01_lr.dds" to "NSS_Gato_T01_lr.dds" |
