Default Problem installing AOD on 64 bit Vista

Trying via my cd to install AOD on Vista 64 bit. Won't go though; get a "you need a 64 bit version of this file to run it"

Any idea if it's possible to install AOD on this os ?

AOD is a DOS program. You are going to need a program called DOSBox to run it.

Feel free to ask further questions. Setting AOD up can be a bit confusing the first time around.

You need to install the expansion pack and the patch as well. I usually mount the expansion pack files as a floppy on drive A and run it. And then I install the patch from my C drive. Both drives A and C are virtual DOSBox drives. And make sure to install the expansion and then the patch. The patch is the last thing you install.

Appreciate it. Been a lot of years since I played it last.

Should get to it in the next couple of days.

Ok, got the game to install and run great in dosbox.

New problem; can't install the expansion pack. Running the install line in dosbox for the patch, I get a 64 bit error message for the chunk file in the expansion pack...."illegal command chunk/gk.com".........and so the pack doesn't install.

Okay.

I take it you are using the Expansion Disk that is available for download from this website, yes?

Disregard the instructions in the readme, and just run INSTALL.BAT. The instructions that come with it are for creating an actual floppy disk, which you don't need.

Just mount the extracted directory as A in DOSBox and install it from there.

Does that help?
