Ummmm. The donation period ended a few months ago and was only required to get an early release of the file. You don't need to donate any more unless you really want to. Neal would be glad of the assistance in keeping Subsim going.

Just DL the files again an see if you can get rid of the corrupted DL.

Default received message question

While on patrol let's say in grid ET on map I'll receive numerous contact messages from other subs in far away grids such as AL. I'd welcome reports in neighboring areas or ones I could steam to and assist but these others rub me the wrong way.Is there anyway to adjust??? Thanks in advance

Most of the messages are for immersion only. When you receive a valid contact report from BdU, the position of the convoy or task force will be marked on the map. And you will receive reports only for contacts that are close to you. Well, at least no more than 300km away.

You can change what level your TC goes down to with SH3 commander, or you could delete them completely.

Default When and How to deploy decoys

I am approaching a convoy with 16 merchants and 7 escorts.

I am using a IXC with Bolds.

I have never used them. When do I deploy them and then what should I do?

Press F1 and look for the hotkey.

As for what they do, they create a bunch of bubbles that are noisy and almost solid. The destroyers pick it up, run to depth charge it, and you get a free attack.

Sometimes.

Default Bold

I have had the best luck near 160 meters in the open Atlantic in late 44 on, above that my success rate with bold is bad. Before that the seem to work better at shollower depth if you employ evasive maneuvers along with the bold. It still seems like a crap shoot to me but its better than doing nothing.

Welcome marioa!

Pressing the ESC will open a menu from which you can save or load a game. As far as I know, there are no hot keys to save/load.

Cheers!

It's quite late and I'm quite tired so I'n not really thinking right now, but it will be helpfull to know if any one has experimented this.

That is the main screen of SH3, freshly installed, no mods.
Apparently is due to a video codec.

ffdshow installed? Remove it and get one of the newest "nightly builds" versions.

One of these days I'll have to update the front post with new links when I have some time (probably not until mid April). Not sure I want to know how many are now totally dead with out recourse as it will probably gut the links part of the guide.
