Default Graphical artifacts taking screenshots

Good day,

I have noticed recently when taking screenshots that there are 'sometimes' strange graphical anomalies / artifacts on the image when I go to view them.
The most recent one included a side on shot of the UBoat, then I panned back so that the bow and stern are in the shot, there is a weird diagonal 'tear' going through the UBoat, reminded me of the film The Omen, where the photographer Jennings takes a soht of himself through the mirror and sees a tear going through his neck where his head should be. Hope this isnt an OMEN!
Anyway, just to clarify, I dont have many mods active, say about 10 and I have not noticed this before.
I should also add that I use Irfanview to view the .tga files and I am currently in a small type II, but cant imagine that having anything to do with it. My other games are fine also. There are no other errors anywhere in the game that I know of.
So, is there ANYTHING other than what i've just mentioned that could cause this? Oh, I have adequate ventilation in my PC case too.

Cheers guys.

I'm thinking it 'may' be Irfanview.
I am going to uninstall it and let Windows manually deal with the screenshots (I think I did this before) and only use Irfanview to convert them to JPG and subsequently view them once i'm happy with them.

Any thoughts?

We are reliving the fateful lives of the commanders...

Reinactments are an energy that can ignite the poltergeists.

You’ve been warned!

Don't think its poltergeists (I love the paranormal), i'm talking tear-like objects, and there is often a noticeable 'line' on the horizon, a white line, its defintitely not there in-game.
I think its Irfanview myself.

Maybe you should change the image processing software. I have used it myself but quite a long time ago now without any problems. Have you tried Gimp?

Hey Vendor

I have not tried Gimp before no, but i'll certainly give it a look, thanks.
Just one more thing about screenshots, because it HAS been a fair while since I last played the game properly, but the way I take screens is with CTRL + F11, is that the 'recommended method?'. Also, is it recommended to modify the screenshot location on the hard drive through Commander? or is it generally safe to leave it in the default folder within SHIII itself?

Cheers mate.
