Labour officials close to Jeremy Corbyn are warning him to resist pressure to back a further Brexit referendum ahead of a general election.

These senior aides are concerned he is being pushed into a position which would delay a general election for some months by the shadow chancellor, John McDonnell, and other leading members of his shadow cabinet.

Labour BAME and female MPs have called for a meeting with Jeremy Corbyn on Tuesday over concerns about the deselection of BAME candidates.

They are also concerned by a number of other selection battles that have turned nasty, involving BAME candidates. A big row is afoot.

A Labour source has said: "Momentum/leadership have totally destroyed the selection rules and can't even protect their own people."

Is it held on same day each year October 14th ? Or is it held on the second Monday in October each year ?

Have this Queens Speech been an event since the building of the Parliament or ?

It normally takes place in May, but this can vary, particularly in a year when a general election is held.

There is a "narrow path" to a Brexit deal this week, but the two sides have to agree the details by the end of Tuesday, the EU's negotiator has said.

Michel Barnier said it was "time to turn good intentions into legal text" if EU leaders were to back the terms of the UK's exit at a summit on Thursday.

After updating EU ministers, Mr Barnier signalled that he expected the UK to agree the legal text of any changes to the withdrawal agreement -previously rejected three times by MPs - within hours.

A second referendum on Scottish independence "must happen next year", Nicola Sturgeon has told the SNP conference.

Ms Sturgeon confirmed that she will ask the UK government to give formal consent by the end of this year.

She said Westminster had "no right" to block the request, and its opposition to indyref2 is "not sustainable".

But she stressed any referendum had to be legal if the result was to be recognised internationally.

She said this was because her aim was not merely to deliver a referendum - but to deliver independence.

I would better understand that after a definite brexit, especially with no deal. But why now already?

It's the Scottish National Parties main reason for being but I'm genuinely not convinced they will have the tax income to run as a separate country, especially if not a member of the EU.

Two questions that are usually uncomfortable for them to answer are:

1) What currency will you use because the pound sterling is underwritten by the Bank of England.

2) If you leave the Union you will take a fair proportion of the national debt with you, won't you?

In 1991 Russia took the national debt (of USSR) in exchange of not paying back the national savings.

Being a member of the EU would be the very reason to leave the UK There are countries with much less gross national product and they are doing fine.

Currency? Introduce a Scottish Pound, or adopt the Euro. The latter would make trade and exchange much easier.

I guess they will look at their current big brother and see what the latter does when leaving its union.
