Default Which OS do you mainly use?

Which Os do you mainly use? If you use more than 1 post the one you use most often.

whoops this was going to be a poll, but accidently hit ctrl w. Tge options I was going to include were Windows. Macintosh, Linux, Solaris. Since there is no poll any other os's are welcome.

Both XP pro 32 bit on my desktop and Vista Home Premium (32 bit) on my laptop. I don't have anything bad or particularly good to say about either one :hmm:

Windows Vista Home Premium (x86) on Shadowhawk, which will soon be upgraded to Vista Ultimate (x64) as I go to 6GB RAM courtesy of MS giving me a free copy for participating in the Feedback program.

On Odyssey, I'm still running XP Home, which, while I miss some ofthe features of Pro, serves my needs just fine when I'm on the go.

My main home computer is my Apple powerbook (15" alum. G4, but I'll probably upgrade to a 17" Macbook Pro this fall, now that they finally have the LED screen option), so I mainly use OS X 10.4. My main work computers are all either running OS X (XServe's, some G5, some Intel, but all on 10.4 until we get PBS to play nicely on 10.5) or Linux (Dell poweredge rack servers for the most part, a couple running RedHat enterprise, most running Fedora). My desktop machine at work is a dual-G5 Mac still running OS X 10.4 (will become a dual quad-core Mac Pro running 10.5 come the summer). I also have a Win XP-SP2 box on my desk, but rarely have a use for it.

My home gaming machine is Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP1. So really, the only time I use Windows is when playing a game or sim. My printer at home used to be shared off the Windows box, but I now have a standalone 802.11g inkjet printer (so now the Vista box sleeps or is shut down when not playing games).

Computational molecular biology actually. I work in a center that provides computing services and resources for mostly health science research. We have a pair of XServe clusters (dual powerpc-G5's and dual dual-core Xeon machines) and several dual dual-core or quad-core Xeon Linux machines. We'll be adding some dual quad-core Xeon XServes later this year. And we have something like 10-12TB of XServe RAID storage, looking to grow that to 30-40TB this year.

Even though I use OS X mainly, I spend at least as much time in it at a terminal as I do at the GUI (my "word processor" is usually just NEdit in an X terminal ).

Windows Vista

Well, Bill Gates monopolized the market and almost every software is designed for Windows exclusively. I've got no choice
