Default Some village must be in need of an idiot.

Quote:
A former squaddie who changed his surname to 'Fu-Kennard' for a laugh has told how the joke has backfired - after he was denied a passport.

Kenny, 33, whose surname used to be Kennard, changed his name using a deed poll in 2016 and even got a driving license under his new moniker.

But when his passport expired and he applied for a new one this year, his application was denied because his name "may cause offence".

The supermarket worker from Bude, Cornwall, has contested HM Passport Office's verdict three times - but the Home Office has refused to budge.

Keen traveller Kenny said he doesn't want to change his name again - so faces a life of UK holidays instead.

Give this 'gentleman' a passport and whilst he is abroad on holiday rescind it and his village can employ a replacement idiot.

Well we could use a rule like that here; as I was greatly offended by our new member...Master Bates...and marvelled at the laxness! I suppose I should shave my fu-manchu now...

What was that movie with Robert de Niro having an adult daughter who was about to get married and thus would get renamed Martha F ocker? This one and part 2 of it were brilliant comedies, I lost weight due to tears laughed. And all the actors obviously enjoyed playing their parts.

Ah: Meet the Parents, I think.

edit: confirmed, Meet the Parents, and Meet the F ockers. If you dont know them and want to laugh yourself to death, watch them .

How do name changes work in the UK? Over here that's quite the process and is only allowed in few cases.

In the U.K. you can change your name (or your child's name) at any time. Changing your name is a legal matter, which means there isn't an “official” place where you go to register a change of name. In law, you can simply adopt a new name and start using it.

Name change laws vary from state to state in the US, but, generally, it is a rather easy process. Most states have a sort of 'usage' change where a person can simply opt to notify, in writing, all the various entities they have business with of their intent to change their name; where it gets dicey is with the Federal government; it is rather a bit of task to get Federal agencies to accept a non-court ordered name change as valid and they will simply ignore you or note the change as an "AKA" (Also Known As) keeping both the official birth certificate name and the new name on their record; given there are various new requirements for official ID such as "Real ID", the ability to officially change one's name without court action may be severely limited or non-existent in the future...

What I fear is the day when we all have to get barcoded:

Sharp eyed persons will note the very early career appearances of Glee's Jane Lynch and a future mega star, Melissa McCarthy...

Anita Bonghit would be a cool name to have.

We had a guy down here some years ago that bought a lottery ticket under the name of "Argus Tuft".

He won first prize of $200K. But he'd lost his ticket, and it wasn't registered.

So he didn't get a cent.

A bit harsh, but probably an appropriate punishment. Should be a good deterrent.
