The first real rock concert I went to was Ian Hunter and Mick opening for Blue Oyster Cult at a hockey arena in Presque Isle, Maine.
Go ahead and look it up, Presque Isle is not exactly Las Vegas or LA.

B.O.C. mostly phoned it in. Ian and Mick.. didn't. While their set was shorter, this was basically the same show I saw. I knew Ian was from Mott and Mick was one of Bowie's Martian spiders but I had no clue just how great Mick Ronson was until that night.

Mick could blow the roof off the building at will yet he made it look so effortless.

Ian actually got booed by the townies during Cleveland Rocks.

We had a local idiom in northern Maine. Where most folks would say that something sucked or something was bogus, we said "It rots".
Ian didn't know this.

So, being the showman he was, he naturally sang "Presque Isle Rocks" during the second chorus. The crowd heard "Presque Isle Rots" and started to boo. Even with the thick sunglasses, you could see Ian doing one of these-
