Default SH2 airplanes

Hello gents
Can anyone remember to make the fighter planes in SH2 "strafe" insead of always bomb. I can change the bomb low to bomb high and visa versa but I think someone had a mod where the planes actually strafed. I attempted a few basic order changes but nothing.

Any thought I was looking to have the fighters do gun attacks on the sub if possible .

Vader

I got into modding way to late it is the greatest

Two possible solutions from the top of my head :

1-set the bomb loadout to 0 to force the use of the machine gun
2-use the special bai file for airplane made by CDragon

Some tidbits from the "old forum"

(from Master CB !!)
here yu go;

[UNIT30]
Group = 7
TypeAbrev = FF
Class = AFFHurricaneIIB
Name = Fighter Sweep
Flag = TRUE
Guide = TRUE
Location = 12.961677, 38.677559
Orientation = 256
Altitude = 90
Throttle = 0.8
Captain = 80
Crew = 80
BoilersHot = TRUE
IconName = AIRCRAFT2
Display = SHOW_AS_UNIT

//////////////////
TypeAbrev = FF
Class = AFFHurricaneIIB
Altitude = 90

im guessing that it must be a fighter for it to straffe..

i think a bomber with bombLow could well even climb to slightly higher alt befor bombing ..a bomber with bombHigh wud certainl climb like a monster before it dropped its bombs..

but leave out the bom commands from the instructions if you want it to straffe (i think)

dunno for sure they could straffe yu fro hours with out doing much damage..

so i never persued it much i must admit..tho it did make some good cinematic moments..

(from CDragon)

Both the hurricane and mosquito fighters have bomb loadouts, according to their UDF files. If given the BombLow command, the fighter will drop bombs and will not strafe, and will do so consistently, unlike the strafing run happening at random for a plane without bomb orders. There is, sadly, no "Strafe" order.

I just want to add that the strafing behavior I witnessed has been with aircraft that spawn as the result of an airbase trigger. I believe that these aircraft ignore the altitude parameter set in the UNIT block. I set the altitude to 100 meters but the aircraft appeared much higher.

On the other hand, a fighter thats in the game from the start, not as a result of a spawn, will strafe me. In a test done with a fighter starting directly over my uboat at 100 meters, it banked back toward me and strafed. Alas, AIRWING and SHIPDIVISION share the unfortunate characteristic of ignoring waypoints once contact is made, and after banking and strafing, instead of returning to its patrol loop, the aircraft raced away, to run into the side of some mountain a day or so later.

Hope it helped.
