Great to see your fine and back here amongst the insane Neal

It obviously takes more than a wee hurricane to shake you tough Texans into submission

I couldn't help but notice the car on your drive....is it by any chance the American equivelant of my vehicle, the Ford Focus :hmm:

I only saw a blue Prius... Where was the Focus? Do the USAers even have one? Thought the Focus was a Ford Europe exclusive model....
Saw an ST the other day near my door though... What a beast

You could be right....but I was under the impression (from KL) that the Focus was available in America. :hmm:

Yeah, that was a Prius, my buddy's car. Gets an actual 52 mpg, and not a bad car. My only question is reliability, but so far, with 50K miles, it's all good.

Yeah, the reporter for the LA Times replied and tells me Cavalla was lifted from her bed but has resettled largey in place. Stewart has shifted. I am waiting for clearance from Homeland Security to go out there and have a look. The curator is there, not sure what his status is. Cell phones not working, you cannot get connected or hear the other party well.

Oberon, thanks. Yeah, I like that pic too. Texans share the same spirit of can do as our British brothers. You would be proud to see it.

That LA Times story has been corrected. Good catch, guys!

Here's a good shot of Cavalla and Stewart from a news helicopter. They show Cavalla about 3 minutes into the video: Ariel view of Seawolf Park/USS Cavalla after hurricane Ike
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/video?id=6391229

Of course, this news anchor assumes Stewart was thrown ashore by the storm, too. I guess that's a common assumption unless you know the history of Seawolf Park.

Another video clip

Neal, nice to know you and all family made it through it unharmed. I can't save you from the extra working shifts your place probably needs, but I wish you solid nerves and patience to get it all done with a stoic mind and a stubborn smile hiding in some godforsaken corner of your mouth.

Das habe ich aber fein gesagt!

I was browsing the Houston Chronicle's photo galleries and found this picture of Seawolf park:

http://images.chron.com/photos/2008/...pupGallery.jpg

The caption (which doesn't appear in this link, but is part of the photo gallery):

"Seawolf Park lies in disarray in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, in Galveston, Texas."
