Please don't use Google translations.

Look at what you did, TarJak, you made the nice German cry.
Speaking of which, Penguin was supposed to be providing me with a German transcription of the movie's dialogue, one scene at a time. I don't think we ever got past the bit in the car where they're driving to the club at the beginning. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT, HMMMMM? I even started a special .docx file for it and everything. |

Isn't that a contradiction in itself?

damned, you have a Sailor Steve memory! Well, the thread is some months old... thought the movie ends after the driving scene... never saw more...real life...the price of fish...yada, yada, yada... I will have to rip the German subs of my DVD, then I can get a transcript and them I can start with a 1:1 translation of the dialog and the meaning. Give me a little time, gnädige Frau! and please, please, please don't use the docx format, it's worse than a Gammelfahrt - doc is sufficent - and readable for the civilized rest of the world who doesn't use any new MS office product |

*runs off to look up gnädige* Well I guess I can cut you a little slack. Seriously, though, I was just poking fun - but if you're willing to undertake the task on any timeline whatsoever, I'm all ears. You wouldn't even have to translate everything, unless it's some idiom only a German speaker would understand or varies a lot from the English subtitles... although I'm not sure you have access to those on your copy. Where the meaning is reasonably and literally close to the subtitles, I might be able to figure out a lot of myself or look up the words I don't have a handle on. Oh, and if I save something in .docx it's just because that's the default in my version of Office and I can't be bothered to worry about it right off. If I'm gonna share a file with someone else I usually revert to .txt where possible or at least something less picky than Word's usual formats. |

MS Office is what we've always had at work, so it's what I know and am comfortable with, altho the 2010 versions have taken some getting used to. I have no problems with it, so I see no point in finding, acquiring, and getting used to a whole other suite of office programs.
I know some people hate MS products for what to them are valid reasons, or just on principle because: Microsoft. But my experience with them over the years has generally been good and when it hasn't it's usually because of something stupid I did, or something I didn't understand because I didn't RTFM. So, yeah, I use MS Office. If only because I have it, I know how it works, so far it's always done pretty much everything I want it to. |

@joe: - I'll continue this:
Was? She prefers MS Office? @Frau: I'll see what I can do when I have the time, and I didn't take you "rant" too serious. |

I use MS Office 2010 - but I get it through work where we're licensed for everyone to have a copy at home and work (but don't tell them that otherwise I'll have to install 50 copies on their (possibly) virus riddled home machines!). But .docx can be read in some other things like OpenOffice, Google Docs, or ThinkFree, as well as some converters being available.
Jussayin Sorry for the interruption, you may now continue with the Lolboot thread...
