Default Das Boot Sound Mod SH4

Well, I downloaded Operation Monsun the other day, and I was so tickled to be running a Type II u-boat in Silent Hunter 4 that I finally decided to stop whining about the American voices and do something about it. I know there are German voice packs out there, but I've loved the Das Boot Sound Mod ever since it was created for SH2. Some talented people did a lot of work and a lot of editing to create it, and I've always loved the movie voices. Which is why I converted it for SH3 way back when.

So, here is DBSM for SH4. It took a lot of juggling, because the speech files have been rewritten for the game. There is no Weapons Officer. His files have all been rewritten for the Chief Engineer/OOD; but the WeO files are still there. That was confusing. Also some files got cut short, but their functions were taken over by the new .wav files covering Surface, Dive, Battle Stations etc.

So, after a whole lot of work and testing, here it is:
[edit] It's now up on the SubSim downloads page:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1083

We'll have it up at SubSim pretty soon, but for now FileFront is it.

I tested it as best I could, but if I missed anything let me know and I'll fix it right away.

I like. Though the captain whispering orders when the boat is thundering on the surface on diesels is a bit odd

it is very very good-almost perfect, some lines are out of place, one or two witch is awesome considering u have used a lot of the movie material that fits perfectly in diferent situations that can happen during a patrol ,and i dont know was it just me or in same situation character say one thing and than hours later in same situation says something else witch totaly makes sence.
All in all superb

To whom it may concern: if u have loops strange waves etc fix it.I have yet to come across the sound mod that is 100% to my likeing.
For instance i didnt like my pc,i have fixed it and now i have the most advanced calculator this side of haven

Hi, to start off, new to the forum. First question, is there a mod made out there to have DAS BOOT soundtrack as .ogg files? so instead of the stock SH4 music that plays at certain times, like "battle sequence" etc it will play the action music from DAS BOOT? or if this has'nt been made does anyone know how i can make it? i have the full das boot soundtrack, only thing i know to do is put them as .mp3's in the gramophone player..but would be good for them as part of the music and just plays when triggered by an event. cheers, Ren

Has anybody figured out the thumping sound problem for sure yet. I love this sound mod but the thumping drives me nuts.

Great mod Sailor Steve.

I tried replacing several files and am now pretty certain it's
Submarine_Surface_INT.wav

Replace it with the default file and the thumping has gone away. You can also try deleting it altogether (or rename it to Submarine_Surface_INT.wav.bak)

I think it always happened when I used Persicope-Depth and Surface-The-Boat commands during time compression. Practically every time.

Remark: Initially I also had Submarine_GQ_battle_stations_INT.wav disabled (as suggested by limkol) so half my testing time were without that one too. Disable it as well, to be sure, and see if the thumping goes away.

I made a fix for it some time ago that has been working fine for me, and I started a new thread for it. I'm sorry I forgot to post it here.

Hello guys, new to the forum, and i really want this mod..
I am complete noob with mods , so i have problem with enabling this mod.
i have enabled OM, in this order:

OPSMonsun_V705
OMv705_to_V720
OMv720_Patch5

Then i tried to enable DBSM_SH4 and JSGME froze. Then i disabled OM and tried to enable DBSM first. JSGME enabled it, and froze again when i tried to enable OM. So at this point it's either OM or DBSM.

Help wanted...
