Default NHL Hockey playoffs underway

Well, an abbreviated NHL Hockey playoffs has begun after a 5 month layoff due to Covid-19. As expected, the games are being televised without spectators in attendance. These are very strange times indeed and for whatever reason, I'm having a hard time getting into the games.

I'm curious if anyone else is watching the games like me and what everyone else thinks of NHL hockey playoffs in August ? Hopefully, your favorite teams are in the playoffs and doing well.

For my part, my attention is on the NFL and if there is going to be a Football season and what that might look like. There won't be any spectators allowed at the NFL games, like what is being done in professional Hockey now. A number of NFL players have opted out of this season and some college teams have cancelled their Football season.

If you had posted this about 20-25 years ago I would have said.

Oh Yes I'm really following it as much as I can, seeing every match or record those I can't see.

Today...I have lost all interest in watching two of my favorite sports.
NHL and NFL.

Thanks to commercials.

I'm sick and tired of it, which have resulted in lost love to these sports.

I do follow it in the sport news though

^Markus, if you have Tivo or something similar, it's not a problem. We usually record the games and then sit down to watch a bit later. When a commercial comes on, we just skip ahead. I hope this helps.

I have PVR and a USB-harddisk(2 TB)

Even though it's irritating having to speed up forward these 2-4 times per period.

It happens a NHL/NFL match is live during the evening.

I watch the first 10 minute-then I change channel-lost all interest.
Thanks to commercial.

I CAN'T be the only one who are sick and tired of these commercial breaks who is destroying a good NHL/NFL game.

A boykot would be the only weapon.

The problem is like with FB-People are very much addicted to it.

Back to the fun part.

I hope your team are among those who have advanced.

My team Calgary have.

Edit
Sorry if I'm to negative in my comments in your interesting sport threads.
I wish I was back in the middle of the 80's and forward to around the end of the 90's.
Where you could watch an entire NHL/NFL game without these disrupting commercial breaks.
(there were commercial breaks between the periods/quarters)
End edit

Markus

^ Relax Markus. You are not being negative and I hardly took offense. You simply voiced the frustration I think everyone has with excessive commercials while watching sporting events. This is why I use a recorder and filter out the commercials.

Sporting events are a bit different and this is to be expected with Covid in progress. I suppose those of us who like watching sports should be grateful we have them at all right now.

I really think these playoffs are a sham. Bringing in sub 500 teams, no crowds, shortened series. Nope.

^ I agree. It's also nonsense to expect teams to do well without any preparation and having a lay off since early March, as well. I don't like the best of 5 series instead of the best of 7 either, as you said.
