That's what i meant, the fan of the card. Ie, cooling will be quiet, fan of card will still be loud under full load.
Reports suggest too noisy under load, heat sink fan too loud.
Heat is not the issue.

Only found it appropiate in awe of the mighty 6990

however I may be able to give him a decent fight once I get both installed in Tri-Fire, watercooled and overclocked...

That is not true, especially where the 6900 series is concerned. 6900 series cards use a new design for the way its shaders work compared to cards of the 5x00 series and 6800 series, more on it here http://www.anandtech.com/show/4061/a...deon-hd-6950/4

Anyway, with the 6x00 series AMD changed their numberng scheme and 6800 series represent the mid range now, instead of high end, iwth 5x00 5700 were the mid range cards.

I suppose a better word choice in the quoted sentence would have been that the 6900 series is the replacement for the 5800 series, rather than the refresh.
