Not modern day but still naval, Spielberg/Dreamworks has the rights to the Eugene Fluckey novel "Thunder Below" they had a script produced for a film years ago but never proceeded with it , who knows it may yet turn up as a series concept at some point after the success of Band of Brothers & The Pacific.

Read the brief synposis. Apparently its a novel from 2001 and it takes place in 2011 admist some implausible storyline today and even back then. However, that aside, it does appear to have nice ASW warfare and again, it still is nice to have more and more attention on modern naval warfare in the media, especially in regards to ASW warfare and SSNs. According to the website, it's supposed to be filmed in 3D, which is awesome. The story is moved from 2011 to 2030, but the overall screenplay is nearly identical to the original storyline.
