We all expected a more defensive Italy in the match against Germany - but all of a sudden they were far more aggressive and offensive then in the matches before. Judging by the early matches of Italy, i would have said the chances are for the French. With this "new" Italian team I say chances are totally open, 50:50, everything is possible. There will be an incredible ammount of experience on the field, especially for the French side. Both teams have extremly strong defensive setups, maybe the two strongest in the world currently. A lot will depend on how Zidane performs. If both teams' defense lines neutralize the opponent's offense, it could become a boring match, like France-Portugal. If the offenses proves to be stronger, then it will be an open exchange of strikes and attacks, with quick shifts from one goal zone to the other.

A player like Zidane deserves to be giftet the title for his farewell. My sympathies with both teams, nevertheless.

It's finally over, gladly. It's way too cruel to finish a World Cup at the penalty kicks, hundreds must have just died of heart attack, and those who survived reached record levels of anxiety.

Well, no sleep tonight, this will be one of those nights where people find magic boxes with never-ending supplies of fireworks.

Thanks for the World Cup Germany.

Congrats for the Italian team, although after the second half the French would have deserved the winZidane: slap-slap-slap. Idiot. Must have been the most unique farewell of a football star I have ever heared of.

Congrats to Italy for becoming champions and to Germany for hosting so well.

France ? - disappointed now , but surely once the sting wears off by tomorrow they must feel the satisfaction at reaching the final against everyone's prediction

Zidane ? .... what can you say. It should have been a triumphant climax to an outstanding career.

I did not see the incident, I heard some reference that Zidane got his nipple tweaked which resulted him doing the chest butt is that true?

Me, but ive 2 more questions.

Where was Blatter during the celebration? The protocol had him to give the cup to Cannavaro.

Where was Zidane during the celebration? Why didnt he show up to get the medal?
