Yankee, You gave yourself away on the 9th line. You should change out old-world man for old -world politicians and work to the end.... so their sons will be a new world man. But then again all Yankees above the mason dixon line think they are so smart and since they won the war....the South must pay for ever. How is it the winners pay the most in blood and still lose in the end . I don't know lets ask the current politician. If it wasn't for them i could set down have a beer and talk about and learn about how other people on planet live. Why cant everyday americans travel to other countries ? Why is it only the rich can afford to leave this country?

Bring the good old bugle, boys, we'll sing another song
Sing it with a spirit that will start the world along
Sing it as we used to sing it, fifty thousand strong
While we were marching through Georgia.

Hurrah! Hurrah! we bring the jubilee!
Hurrah! Hurrah! the flag that makes you free!
So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea
While we were marching through Georgia.

I wish I was in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land.
In Dixie Land where I was born in, early on a frosty mornin',
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land.
Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie.

"Sherman's dashing Yankee boys will never reach the coast!"
So the saucy rebels said and 'twas a handsome boast
Had they not forgot, alas! to reckon with the Host
While we were marching through Georgia.
So we made a thoroughfare for freedom and her train,
Sixty miles in latitude, three hundred to the main;
Treason fled before us, for resistance was in vain
While we were marching through Georgia.

Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom! Beneath it oft we've conquered, and we'll conquer oft again! Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom! Our Dixie forever! She's never at a loss! Down with the eagle and up with the cross. We'll rally 'round the bonny flag, we'll rally once again, Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!

"What was an American?" is probably more apt.

Probably English, German, Polish, African, Spanish, Mexican...and so on. Now just the Heinz 57 Variety Ketchup.

Izzat a burning cross?

But those are the wrong lyrics. The right lyrics to that song are:

Oh we'll rally round the flag, boys, we'll rally once again,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom,
And we'll rally from the hillside, we'll gather from the plain,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom.

The Union forever, hurrah! boys, hurrah!
Down with the traitors, up with the stars;
While we rally round the flag, boys, we rally once again,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!

We will welcome to our numbers the loyal, true and brave,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!
And although he may be poor, he shall never be a slave,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!

It sounds so much better don't you think? To me lyrics like "Although he may be poor, he shall never be a slave" is powerful stuff.
