Default Hi, I'm new

Hi everyone. I have tinkered around with the Silent Hunter games here and there, but never to a point where I am manually enter data for my own torpedoes.

I served 4 years enlisted time as a Sonar Tech in Subs.

I did do some digging around in the forums, but now would like to post my problem, just in case you guys reading this can point me in the right direction, I would like to ask/explain:

I have successfully used Tunngle to LAN SH3 with my brother. But in trying SH4+U-Boats (v1.5), the client crashes out shortly after the game is loaded. I have the Gold version on CD, and he is running his off of Steam. We are directly connected to Modems. Tunngle is working, No firewalls, same versions. Is this a unsolvable problem with SH4 v1.5. Does SH4v1.4 (not Uboats) multiplay better. I read that the game engine was changed with the v1.5? Being that Tunngle is working, I want to say it is a game problem. But if no one is experiencing this problem, then I know it is me or my brother. If it is a v1.5 problem and not v1.4, then I will go out and buy just v1.4 (without Uboat missions). Being that we can see each other in the game sessions and join each others game, it is just when we start the game things go wrong leads me to believe it is a game software problem and not a Tunngle, Hamachi, Firewall, or modem/router problem.

I have windows XP and he is running Win7. Not sure about his AntiViral software, but I have Norton suite from Comcast, but like I said, I turn it off during gameplay.

If ya know of any postings that will answer my questions please let me know. I am off back to the forums to dig up some more. and post my problem in a more appropriate area.

Great to be aboard!
Thanks!

hi Mag, welcome to your forum, we really tip our hats to the real deal.

Ay-yi-yi, your MP issue is pretty complex. I can't help you, but you certainly should post this in the SH4 MP and Mods forums, someone there may have an answer.

best
Neal
