Since this is the model railroading thread, I thought I would post this:

Thanks Ob. LED's are the way to go I think. Little or no heat and a fraction of the current draw.

I'm still laying track and I decided to replace my Atlas switch machines with ones like in the pics. No doubt will be next winter before I get to any scenery or details. I can only hope that things come out looking half as good as what August has there.
He has much more talent for this kind of thing than I do.

Looking super there August. That kind of stuff makes a layout.

Judging by the pictures your track plan is far superior to mine and once you get to the detailing it will easily show it.

By the way this is where I usually hang out to talk trains. You can get some great ideas here: http://www.thewhistlepost.com/forums/

August and Magic, it is a pity that you guys are 4,000 miles away from each other. You could team up and build a super town complete with trains and shops, etc.

Don't forget a sub base. Lot's of rail in those facilities.

Very nice !

I have no track layout yet, but have got myself some nice HO-track locomotives, and rolling stock. I plan to make a very early american track layout, maybe around before the civil war, or only a bit into it. Thinking of the old Mason, Rogers or Smith&Perkins engines, with inline cranks, ouside frames etc.. Certainly means a lot of kitbashing.
Found some nice older locos from Mantua/Tyco ('General' and 'Dixie Belle') which are nice and easy to change. Have hesitated though because they are now becoming 'classics' in a way themselves ..

Thanks and greetings,
Catfish
