Getting SH to run on Win10?

I must be doing something wrong - I have visited the Win10/SH tab and can't get the same results others have. I have a fairly new Acer Laptop which came with W10 64bit. I have tried the suggestions to get SH to run under W10 but so far it starts loading and seems to stop at one location and shows a black screen with the words Silent Hunter 1.31 Commanders Edition in the upper left corner. That's where it seems to have stopped. I tried the Compatibility changes using all other OSs offered. There has been no check box that is described in some threads on my Compatibility Tab. All I have are choices of oper. systems from Win95 to Win8 and all in between. I seem to have the program files on my hard drive but I get various errors from: Cannot find SH.exe even though I see it on my screen to Program is not compatibile with Windows, contact the manufacturer. This awesome game has run on Win7 and 8 - and I've been told by MS that win10 is compatible with all software, yeah, right.
Any ideas?

Turner, which SH are you working with, the original SH1 ?

It is necessary to know which SH you are running.. ye olde SH1 probably needs a DosBox to run properly, but it is not too difficult to set up and use

Welcome to Subsim Turner.

Without knowing which of the SH you are running, it's difficult to know how to answer this. This may help though.

To run SH3 on a Win 10 platform.

Go to the control panel and select my Graphics card icon (Nvidia or ATI) open it up and select 3G settings..... come down to Silent hunter in the games... select that and then change every 3D setting to "OFF"

Silent Hunter doesn't like any 3D settings. I hope this helps and there may well be other issues as well.

Don't install the game into the default path ( x86 ) . Create a new folder and install your sim there. If this is the case, remove everything from SH and I mean everything and reinstall it in the new folder
