Default Glad to be aboard

Hello, Cadet Brinker reporting aboard and pleased to be joining such a fine crew.

I am a 57 year old retired law enforcement officer and live near Harrisburg PA. I have always been interested in history, particularly WW2, and have enjoyed gaming related to that time period.
Most gaming involves FPS, tanks, and submarine warfare. I first went to sea aboard Aces fo the Deep then transfered to SH2, 3, 4, and 5. I have played only stock versions of these games and,
like many players, found SH5 to be less user friendly than expected after playing SH3. Fortunately I found videos on You Tube related to the Silent Hunter series. The videos posted by TheNorseCast
and POTUS along with others, were educational and enjoyable to watch. I was exposed for the first time to the terminology of modding. Now as far as gaming is concerened I could be considered a cadet
or casual player. But when it comes to computers I think of myself as just beginning to fill out the enlistment papers. I started my law enforcement career in 1981. Back then we stopped at pay phones to
make calls or found other places to use the land line. Cell phones didn't exist nor did in car computers, cameras, etc... When computers were introduced to the rank and file we had civilian IT persons on
board to keep us up and running. Back to the You Tube videos. Many videos mentioned SUBSIM so I decided to check out your website. I was impressed to see how helpful the members are and the vast knowledge
contained on the site. With my wishes to improve my computer and gaming skills, SUBSIM is for me, a lighthouse beacon at night on a stormy sea.

Welcome to Subsim LI Brinker. You might be surprised to know we have other law enforcement professionals within the ranks of Subsim.

SH3 and 4 are still popular with most of the members of Subsim. SH5 with modifications is a fine simulation as well and can be tailored to taste.

Enjoy your time here and happy hunting.

I remember when Starsky and Hutch had to scream to a stop to ring the station from a phone booth, or they had a huge phone in the car, with a dirty great wire coming out of it

Anyway, welcome to Subsim
