Default Sunk a Bogue before Christmas

I left U463 in the North Atlantic and got a contact update pointing to a task force headed south west

I didn't take any chances this time, deciding a salvo of four fish would would do the job...

Made sure all my men were in position...

My first visual of the contact...

I set my fish in a salvo because my last contact with a carrier/bb was a serious shame, two missed completely because of a speed miscalculation and two didn't finish the job

Here they are away...

I set my salvo angle for 0.5 degrees because of the extreme range of my shot which was estimated at 5km and surprisingly all hit their mark exactly!

After the fish were in the water, I turned 180 degrees and set my depth to 160m. After more than four minutes, I was turned completely and I was at 60m. I was actually concerned by the calm waters so I made sure I was at max range for these type II torpedos(which I hate) but it couldn't be helped because I had docked at the milk cow and it usually outfits you with the default load out

Anyway she sank with eight minutes and the escort that was south of the carrier actually turned and made a bee line for the area 2000m on the port side. This effectively gave me a huge amount of breathing room to escape

So just a tip: if you aren't detected at the time of the first strike, the escorts will just loiter around the side of the ship it was hit on about 2000m away. If you are 5km away however you should be in the shade

I'm playing with map contacts on and the external camera activated

I started a new patrol in the new year and found another bogue escort carrier, sinking it this time with two magnetic torpedos and then sank four more ships in a convoy for a total of 55,000 tons only to have windows update restart my computer

I have one save before the convoy but those mid sea saves always cause ctd's

I guess I'll see if it works when I get home...
