Default Sinking capital warship (x) endlessly

Hello!

I recall that in the Silent Hunter I's career, a player could
sink a Yamato class battleship many many times despite
only two ever having seen service. So that was a bit of an
absurdity after sinking six of them.

Does Silent Hunter III's career mode (GWX) allow the same kind
of over-sinking of capital warships or do caps exist that prevent
this from happening?

No its still the same.
Limitation of game engine am afraid.

Though you would be hard pushed to see the same battleship multiple times let alone sink it haha.

Thanks for the answer. It confirms what I expected.
I often see a British battleship embedded in
convoys and even if I sink it, it seemingly
comes back again in later patrols. I cannot
think of any sub simulator that puts realistic
caps on this type of zombie regeneration.

But then there are games like "Gary Grigsby's War
in the Pacific" that tracks these types of class
numbers down to the scale of motor torpedo boats.
So, you never see duplicate sinkings in that
game. The fans would howl in protest.

Your recall is not good; there is no Yamato class battleship neither in original SH3 nor in GWX. But your assumption in general is correct. There are more Ships inGame than ever "build".

Sh3 would not be Sh3 if there no Mod exist for this "Problem". Look here:
"[REL] SH3 Dynamic Campaign v1.2" from year 2014

Greetings.

The game simply does not keep a tally of how many existed in the Order of Battle. It just knows a type of ship, with specific statistics, which a particular model, which also happens to carry a name that is unique in real life. But there is nothing stopping the mission or campaign writer to include it in the specific or random selection of ships that participate in one or multiple instances of convoys or a single unit. As such it can spawn more than once, depending on probability settings.

It is like a cartoon where the character is running as the scenery scrolls by in the background. The same identical buildings and trees repeat over and over so the cartoon loses its suspension of belief. Oh, the mental anguish to realize that it is all one big lie!
