The top shelf tumbles and the wall clocks run Well scotch bottles and the soda guns You missed the last train from the city tonight Old friends see each other in a different, different light You missed the last train tonight The Alphabet City's dive bars drone And two pilgrims seek a makeshift home Missed the last train from the city tonight Old friends see each other in a different, different light You missed the last train tonight There is a song singin' in the dark Don't get too close or it'll tear you apart There is a reason for every season of the heart There is a song singin' in the fire Don't get too close, it cuts like a wire There is a reason for every season of desire The subway rumbles under Union Square And the morning finds an unlikely pair Hotel lobby, holding hands Don't blink, don't think, don't look in her eyes Is this for forever or is this goodbye? Goodbye There is a song singin' in the dark Don't get too close or it'll tear you apart There is a reason for every season of the heart There is a song singin' in the fire Don't get too close, it cuts like a wire There is a reason for every season of desire [Bridge] Half in light and half in dark Is where we start Half in light and half in dark Is where we are Half in light and half in dark Is where we start Half in light and half in dark Is where we are We are one beating heart x4

July 12 1962: five scruffy youths performed for the first as a group with a name they had just adopted: The Rolling Stones; 58 years later, the Stones still roll along...
Their first single was appropriate for them; the A-side was a cover of a song written by one of their idols. US legendary rocker Chuck Berry... The A-side of their second single was a song written by and given to them by a couple of fellow UK musician/songwriters who were shopping around their songs on the London musical circuit as a side venture in case the the group they were in, also newly minted, should fail or fall apart; the songwriters would, and their own group would go on to be legends themselves and close friends of the Stones... A-Side first single 1963... A-Side second single 1964 performance, live... Interesting trivia: The Stones became the first act to ever appear on UK's Top Of The Pops when the show debuted in 1964 and the song they performed was Lennon/McCartney's I Wanna Be Your Man... Also in 1964, Charlie Watts married his girlfriend, Shirley, and they are still together 56 years later... <O>

At first, I thought this was about the LA punk band X, but as with The Knack, there have been several bands in several places with the same name; this is our local version who I used to see live when the punk scene was just starting in SoCal... You may notice the guitarist, Billy Zoom, plays with his legs spread farapart; he adopted that stance because in earlier bands he played with, his very tall height made him tower over shorter band mates, leading sometimes to conflicts with the 'star' members who thought he was stealing the spotlight from them, so he tried to 'shorten' himself visually... The problems with band member heights actually led to one band altering their name; The Small Faces got their name because the members were all a bit on the short side; when new band members Ron Wood and Rod Stewart, who are both tall, joined the band, the "Small" was dropped from their name... <O>

@ vienna. "Our" X (Sydney ) still evoke good memories from their ageing loyal fanbase. Even though practically all the original lineup has long since passed away. P.S. ....Go Madge

Quote:
Its sometimes a bit of a shock when some mashups mesh really well, particularly if the acts involved are substantially different in genre... A note on Steve Jones, the guitarist for the Sex Pistols; he has been a staple on the LA music scene for decades now and has hosted his own radio show for a long time; he has been clean and sober for a very long time and proud of it; he also has been a long time adopter of a healthy life style in eating and exercise including, surprisingly for a former Punk legend, the practice of Yoga; he has been absent form the airwaves, off and on, for the past couple of years and there has been much speculation about the state of his health; it was revealed a few months back Steve had suffered a double whammy of a case of Bell's Palsy and a heart attack requiring emergency surgery... Spotlight: Sex Pistol Steve Jones’ ‘Jonesy’s Jukebox’ Is Still One of LA Radio’s Most Steadfast Rock Institutions -- https://www.billboard.com/articles/b...ight-interview Jonesy has also gone in big time with social media and this is a quarantine YT video he posted singing and playing guitar from his home's bathroom (better acoustics)... <O>
