"As a healthcare professional I want people to understand that even if we had 1 million ventilators in the US or anywhere else. We do not have enough staff to run them or take care of a patient on these ventilators! Please stay at home!!!! Please!!!!" - J. Campbell

Couldn't get any beer, lager, cider here at all from supermarkets locally, and I have heard they are going to stop stocking it in favour of food and essentials. Well last I heard beer was essential, or is that just me ?

I usually have 40-50 cases in one of the garages but now down to 12 so I'm not too worried atm.

Did you know why Christ Martenson calls it the "honey badger virus"? I did not, since I did not know this animal.

This is why.

Not bothered by it as I am a very light casual drinker. As for the supermarkets its about time they got there act together as panic buying will be moving into week 3.

A hotel has claimed that letters sent to staff sacking them and ordering them to leave their accommodation immediately were sent in error.

Staff at the Coylumbridge Hotel near Aviemore were told on Thursday by management to leave the hotel in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The action resulted in widespread criticism from politicians and a public backlash on social media.

Brittania Hotels has now apologised and blamed an administrative error.

If this had never been made public there wouldn't have been the need tp blame it on an administrative error.

In case there is a bit of curiosity about what measures and restrictions are being declared officially here locally in Los Angeles County (covering 11 Million people, 88 cities and other non-incorporated areas, a bit over 4,000 sq. miles [10,500 sq km]), attached is the latest (19 March) Public Health Notice; it includes a definition and description of allowed or prohibited activities; the listing of essential businesses and activities starts at the bottom of Page 3 of the PDF:

SAFER AT HOME ORDER FOR CONTROL OF COVID-19 --

http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov...319_Signed.pdf

The above pretty much is identical to the State declarations; what has been interesting during the whole process is the City of Los Angeles has actually implemented almost all of the actions prior to the State or County issuing their own orders; the Mayor has been quite proactive in handling the City's response and also has been very forthcoming and transparent about what has been done by his office. There is a large medical center that closed it doors permanently a few months ago and the Mayor suggested to the State that the buildings and its infrastructure be leased and used as a medical facility to house and treat solely patients with diagnosed cases of Covid-19; the State has taken up the idea and is negotiating a lease with the property's owners; the upshot of the idea will be to further isolate known cases away from other non-infected patients at other hospitals...

This is a link to the LA County webpage regarding Covid-19:

This article from iflscience may be of some interest for you

Quote:
There have been a series of good quality investigative reports, notably by the business publication Caixin, since the authorities fully acknowledged the virus. As political scientist Maria Repnikova argues, providing temporary space for the media to report more freely can help the party-state “project an image of managed transparency”. However, the clampdown has undoubtedly had a significant effect on the media’s ability to provide effective investigative reporting, particularly early on in the outbreak.
