Default How do you extract sound only from a video?

I have a few videos that I want to extract the sound
from. Is there software that will do this? Preferably
freeware.

Thanks.

There is software that will do it, but I haven't seen one that's free. I have one that will do it for free, but only the first five minutes of any chapter.

I don't remember the name though. I'll get it for you and post it tomorrow, unless somebody comes up with something better today.

Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/, you may need a lame encoder fro mp3 conversion but that free too.

Play your video etc and Audacity will record/capture anything you can hear.

Or - http://www.aoamedia.com/audioextractor.htm, not tried this one though.

http://www.dvd-mp3.org/
I have used this and it works. The only problem is that you get one MP3 file, and have to use a splitter to get the individual tracts. There are several freeware splitters.
The only DVD-MP3 ripper I know that will split it for you is not freeware.
I have not used Audacity for this as I can never get that to work correctly. I am sure this is my problem, not the programs, but I find it confusing.

Look for WinAmp 5.5 (the free version). You can write the audio from a video program to disk using your choice of MP3, WAV, OOG, etc.
